A SOLDIER'S PERSPECTIVE
THE WEB'S LEADING MILITARY BLOG SINCE 2004
This is from Move America Forward:
This has been a very rough weak for our troops.
There has been a renewed up tick in violence in Iraq following a terrorist attack on a Shiite shrine that set off a wave of riots, protests, and killings.
The news media has jumped on this story like maggots to a carcass – they’ve predicted a “Civil War” in Iraq and renewed their questioning of the moral justification for Operation Iraqi Freedom.
The men and women of the United States military, meanwhile, are doing their best to just do their job. They have a hard enough time fighting off the terrorist threat from Islamic radicals – the last thing they need is for the American news media to be rooting against them.
>>> It’s time we stepped up and gave our troops a bit of a morale boost, don’t you think?
We’re going to do 2 things to support our troops and we hope you’ll help with one or both of them.
1st – If you live in California, Arizona, Nevada or anywhere nearby, then we need you to join us at a patriotic pro-troop “We Support Our Troops AND Their Mission” rally this Friday, March 3rd in San Diego, California. The rally will take place at Balboa Park from about 4:00 – 6:30 PM.
We will be rallying at this location to counter Cindy Sheehan’s anti-war rallies in San Diego during this same weekend. Sheehan is coming to San Diego to lead a series of events with the theme of “End the War in Iraq” – and the news media will surely give her ample news coverage.
Don’t you think it’s time to make sure the patriotic pro-troop side was heard from? Bring lots of American flags, and signs supporting our troops. We will be sending pictures and news coverage from this rally to our troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan to show them that Americans still support them, so we NEED A BIG CROWD to give them an enthusiastic boost!
Melanie Morgan is flying in from San Francisco to lead this rally and looks forward to meeting you!! Please help spread the word to all your friends and family members to attend.
2nd – If there is no way for you to make this rally, then would you please do us the honor of sponsoring a package of “Coffee and Cookies for Our Troops” that we will send in your name (with a personalized note of support from you) to our troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan?
Trust us – they could really use the vote of confidence from the American people right about now!
You can send cookies and coffee to our troops here:

“The media is not predicting a civil war, there IS a civil war.”
And the liberals shouted, “Hooray!!”
“You know that if you toe the line, they will reward you.”
Yeah, I’m hoping to be the first NCO that receives a direct promotion to Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. We’ll see if it all pays off.

I’m off work Friday by some stroke of luck. It will be great to head on over to that rally! Thanks for the heads-up.

Salminio writes, “’m sorry CJ, but I’m really disapointed at the way you promoted this protest. Supporting the troops is an absolute non-partisan issue. Making it partisan is disgusting.”
Of course, there’s nothing at all disgusting about the way Cindy Sheehan “supports” the troops…..and there’s nothing partisan at all about Dick Durbin comparing the troops to Nazis…..
Hypocrite.

The civil war seems to be over. I wonder if Salminio could tell us who won?

CJ, take heart. Despite the recent losses, this month will have the lowest fatality rate in the last five months.

CJ,
I wish I could join the pro-troop side to show the Anti-America and Cindy Shehags of the world that there really are people who support our troops as well as our president…but can not get time off work. Glad to see the good side is getting together to get their voices heard as well.

We know there are Teresa, and we appreciate you.

Geez, Salminio, 6000 died on D-Day. More than that died on Iwo Jima. Would you be wailing the next day that the sacrifice wasn’t worth it? What price are you willing to pay for your freedom? Apparently not much. Yet you call yourself a patriot.
Those of us who have served understand full well what the price of freedom is. Every one of us has lost someone we cared about, EVEN IN PEACETIME, so that you and yours could leave in peace and freedom.
50 MILLION people have been freed from tyranny. Yet you want to wail and weep because 2400 of us have been killed. SADDAM KILLED MORE THAN THAT IN A SINGLE DAY! Wake up!
Why do you need to hear from your leaders to know what’s going on? Do some research, for crying out loud. You’re an American. Get up off your a&& and read. Ask some Iraqis what they think of what we’re doing. There’s a ton of Iraqi blogs. Get a d*** clue!
CJ
Sal, It says a lot about you, and most other liberals, that you call the terrorists we’re fighting in Iraq “patriots”. You’ve gotten reasons. You chose to ignore them. Recent reports has surfaced that the Russians are resonsible for helping to move the weapons we “couldn’t find” in Iraq. You seem to forget all the satellite videos of trucks quickly leaving through the back as weapon’s inspectors arrived at the front of these facilities. You seem to forget that one of the things leading us to this war was the fact that Saddam refused to give the weapon’s inspectors fair access. They constantly complained about being shuffled around and driven in circles.
When I stormed some of the ministry buildings with the combat soldiers in the days of Baghdad’s fall, I personally found many references to Iraq’s relationship to those three nation’s that were so adamantly “opposed” to our invasion: Russia, France, and Germany. Since none of that information has been made public for some reason, I’m not sure whether I can discuss specifics, so you’ll have to take my word for it (which I’m sure isn’t good enough for you).
While I’ve just explained a little, know that I don’t have to explain my views on why this war is justified that I already have. If you look back to the early days of this sight, you’ll get your answers. Just because you don’t believe in them doesn’t mean I have to consistently give you something to argue with.
Antimedia, Sal did serve in Vietnam, though he hasn’t been too specific about it. I don’t fault him for that. At least I think he served from some past comments he made. However, he’s allowed the stupidity of Americans during the Vietnam era to cloud his judgement and it’s affected his thinking.
CJ
Wow, Sal. I didn’t see your last #11 comment up there because for some reason it was stuck in approval limbo. It actual really makes me feel sorry for you. “Your little U.S. Gov set up “friendly Iraqiâ€? blog sites”? Quite the conspiracy theorist, eh? I guess every village really does need one.
I don’t think I can honestly respond to your comments anymore. I make a mean tinfoil hat if you’d like one.

Sure wish I could be with you all on Friday ~ life’s logistics prevent it. But my flag is up in my yard and my blog is still active…
I just can’t help but think of one of Will’s best lines when I hear the vague but insistent “talking points” of those who are against this war/administration:
“I do believe the Lady doth protest too much.”

CJ
Sal, do you insinuate that it’s okay for you to bring up points that have nothing to do with my posts, but when I bring up something that has nothing to do with your comments, it’s not okay?
Are you ruining my blog? You’re still posting aren’t you. The day you “ruin” my blog is when your comments are no longer approved.
CJ
“Everything I wrote is in EXACT context with your post!” Really?! let’s reflect a little:
Post about Dick Cheney’s medal – You said: “you do realize that Red China took over our west coast ports a few years ago. Just thought I would bring up another republican adventure.” EXACT context? I don’t think so.
Post about Sergio Lopez – You said: “We should never again brag that in America any idiot can become president because this one has become an albatross around our necks.” EXACT context? I don’t think so.
Post about port security – You said: “I think I may have found a new Haji site.” EXACT context? I don’t think so.
Post about Steve Markhill – You said: “Nudder site fur ya…[then post a completely unrelated link]” EXACT context? I don’t think so.
Post about Code Pink losing their protest permit – You said: “We gave the military from 1965 to 1972 to pacify Vietnam. [then continued on some rant about something completely unrelated]” EXACT context? I don’t think so.
The list goes on and on, but I’m bored now.
Donna
Thanks CJ! In my opinion you more than explain the things that Sal brings up. He or she just wants to rant and argue with you or anyone else he can argue with.
Personally I am really tired of his rants. Sometimes I just scroll through Sal’s posts.
I appreciate your posts CJ. Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to write. Your blog is great!!

Geez….I really don’t know where to even begin with Sal…so I won’t start. There’s a certain disconnect there, between what you are saying, and how he responds to what you are saying.
Since you mentioned Cindy, have you checked out the update to that video I made last year? I think you’ll like the changes.
