A SOLDIER'S PERSPECTIVE
THE WEB'S LEADING MILITARY BLOG SINCE 2004
[Update] The video of this speech is up. You can view it HERE. One of the things I wish I had heard was that Eman asked the vile evil peacenik witch why she didn’t let me speak. She actually wanted to debate me on the issue. But they didn’t want her to debate because didn’t want to hear opposing views. Of course, she didn’t seem to be speaking too loudly to quell the uproar while all these people were shouting and surrounding me!! Additionally, she says that she never saw any theme parks before she says she saw them before they were bombed. We didn’t fix bombed out theme parks. We fixed theme parks that were in need of ball bearings, grease, new electrical outlets, and repaired mortar. We did all that. It’s a very interesting video. The entire thing is about 30 minutes long. tgslTakoma from Free Republic edited out a lot of it so that you didn’t have to sit through the same hour of nonsense we had to sit through. In the video, Code Pink’s true colors shine. Try to pay attention to the comments from the peanut gallery.
I especially liked the comments from the Iraqi who disputed Eman’s accounts. They didn’t even want to hear it straight from the horse’s mouth unless it was biting towards OUR country. They hate their own country that much. Code Pink would rather listen to bitter commentary about how evil and masochistic this country is than hear that it’s not. They tried to shut up anyone that didn’t agree that American soldiers are murderers, bandits, and thieves.
I found out earlier today that Eman Khamas was coming back to town. She was actually coming to a community center about 15 minutes from my house. I couldn’t miss a chance to question her on the things she said during her last speech.
I arrived just before 1930 when the speech was supposed to start. By ten till eight, they still couldn’t get their computers working, so the speech began. After a brief introduction, Eman took the stage. Stacked in the small living room sized conference room were approximately 65 people seated in rock hard folding chairs. They probably chose those chairs so that our discomfort distracted us from the stupidity flowing from Eman’s mouth.
She pretty much hit on all the exact points she talked about last time. She said that she had pictures of destroyed buildings that had been bombed by Americans. I didn’t think there was any secret to the fact that we bombed buildings.
The theme this time really seemed to focus on the fact that American soldiers were killers. We skinned our prisoners. We tied up Iraqis and dragged them through the dirt until they were dead. Not one prisoner was detained without being beaten. American snipers arbitrarily killed innocent old women and young children. Our mineret snipers took every opportunity to kill whoever we caught in our sites. The entire thing was insane.
As Eman spoke, I looked around the room and saw that many of these people were buying it. Complete distruths were spewed and not one person batted an eye. Sprinkled throughout the crowd were some of my fellow Freepers, from Free Republic ready to pounce on the nonsense. When she was done with her tirade, she opened the floor to questions.
I can’t even remember the first two questions that were asked. I just knew I had to get my question in. I raised my hand and stood up. I introduced myself a U.S. Army soldier who happened to be an interrogator. She had mentioned that all prisoners were abused in some way. In light of these testimony, I asked if I was a murderer. Someone in the audience shouted “YES!”
I then asked her if she was so intent on documenting American abuses of Iraqis if she had documented the abuses that Saddam committed against Iraqis. She said no. I asked why not but the crowd started moaning and groaning and talking me down.
I asked where the proof was of American soldiers sitting in minerets (which are exclusive to Islamic mosques) and shooting people. The crowd got louder. I had to raise my voice. She wasn’t answering my questions, either because she couldn’t or because the crowd wouldn’t let her. I was told to shut up because they came to hear her talk. But, she wouldn’t talk.
Defeated, the Code Pink whackos began to surround me, the old hags that they were. These ladies wouldn’t let me talk. Not only that, they assumed that the presence of wrinkles and bad breath would keep my mouth shut. They yelled at me from all sides. Someone in the crowd mentioned how unfair it was that everyone was ganging up on one person. He got shouted down.
I asked them if they were there for the truth or just to hear something that fit their views. The place was in complete disarray. I was shouting, they were shouting. The people that organized the thing tried to get me to be quiet. I had accomplished something I hadn’t set out to do: I singlehandedly plunged this speech into chaos and bedlam.
To be honest, I don’t remember too many specifics. I probably have my timelines a little out of whack. Either way, here are the conclusions I came to.
These people HATE this country. They WANT to hear the bad stuff. Every time I tried to bring up positive things that were being done in Iraq, I was met with “What does that have to do with anything?” Code Pink and their followers think EVERY American soldier is a heartless murderer. No one is innocent of shedding blood. For the record, the only question I got answered was that she didn’t document the atrocities of Saddam, just the Americans. I guess being a catered-to Baathists had its advantages.
One of the Freepers took video of the whole thing. Hopefully, I’ll be able to get a copy. If I’m able to, I’ll try to post it for download.

Mike Driehorst
Well, you are to be commended for trying, CJ.
It would be very informative for a civil Q&A with reps from the various anti-war/anti-American/anti-military groups and groups (the majority) that support the war, military and the US.
Mike

WOW. That is just freaking crazy!!! Thanks for posting this — what a bunch of crap!

THANK YOU CJ!!! Stinky Pinkos deserve to have thier little propaganda fests infused with a bit of truth. I can’t wait to see the video!
tgslTakoma
Absolutely fantastic work tonight, but you shouldn’t have to be subjected to the abuse and filth that those people spewed your way tonight; and they did it all in front of your kids. They have no soul, no conscience, no human decency. And their attitude towards anyone who holds an opposing view is anything but PEACEFUL.
I have a full tape of video, and will put it on DVD for you, and upload it to the web in clips (it’s an hour-and-a-half of video) ASAP.
God Bless you and every other member of our military for defending the rights of me, and these inconsiderate, selfish, America-hating A-holes to gather together in a community center in peace and safety.
Well, it would have been peaceful and safe, were it not for the inconsiderate, selfish, America-hating A-holes.

What bothers me most is how people in the crowd easily start believing this stuff and going along with it. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard from college courses to work people spout off lies and untruths about the military and it makes me sick… I can only hope those that believe the truth speak out and don’t let the average guy be swayed by craziness. Thanks for updating, CJ.
Beth* A.
Why throw it open to questions if they didn’t really mean it? Civil discourse and debate has gone the way of the dodo bird.
I think the only way they can feel good about themselves is to drag down anyone who actually has goals, takes action, and accomplishes positive change in this world. Pathetic. Really sad behavior. And sad for the country.
But if one man can cause a whole coven of them to fall apart at the seams….
Donna
CJ,
I’m so glad that you stood up and asked your questions. Even if they tried to shout you down, you got some of your points made.
I can’t believe that people like that live in this free society only because of soldiers like you who have fought for their and our freedoms! Maybe they should move to Saudi Arabia or somewhere like that if they hate our country and our troops so much!!
Karen
After reading the other comments, all I can say is way to go CJ! For the most part, the people I know support the military. The few that have commented in a less than positive way are easliy silenced with a few hard facts and pointed questions. I am evil like that
CJ
I remembered last night as I calmed down what the first question was about. Eman was asked if she had met any of the CPT members. She went on this long explanation (probably meant to convince us of yet another lie) about how she knew them and had worked with them.
As sad as it may sound, last night I had a taste of what almost every soldier returning from Vietnam probably went through. I’m not a prideful person by any means, but I have pride in my country. It’s hard to tear a person like me down when I could not care less what people think about me. So, while I didn’t take it personal, I did feel a connection. I’m not in any way trying to parallel Vietnam and Iraq because our soldiers today aren’t returning to this kind of vilification. I subjected myself to it.
Saying that, I just want to again thank those Vietnam vets out there for their sacrifice. I can’t imagine having to go through that for more than just a few minutes day in and day out.

GOOD FOR YOU CJ! WE’RE SO PROUD OF YOU!

Good for you. Looking forward to the interview.

CJ, I can’t thank you enough for your stand defending our Military ! I am so glad you have been in the right places at the right time to inform those who are being misinformed.
Sharon
CJ – once again you distinguish yourself as a brave patriotic American…..I am sorry that you were subjected to this abuse. But,there is one thing to consider— in that audience there may have been…. probably were …at least one or two people ( hopefully more…but a couple would be enough) who -witnessing what happened when you tried to ask your questions…will now be thinking about the people who sponsored this travesty- and the “speaker”…. there WILL have been ONE person who wondered… “why aren’t they letting him speak?”, “why won’t she answer his questions”? If you changed a few people’s minds.. or even led them to question.. perhaps it was worth it. You are still one of my heroes and I’m glad you went there and took a stand!
Moe
Thank you for standing up and trying to correct those lies and thank you for your service to our country. May I suggest that you make copies of that DVD and send one each to Bill O’Reilly, Rush Limbaugh, Hannity and Colmes, Britt Hume and at least 1 or 2 pinko, liberal show hosts. Maybe one of them will air some of it. The people in this country need to see that. So many people do not realize just how hate filled and dangerous the so-called peaceniks are. Hang in there.
Cheryl
These people are sheep. They cannot formulate an independent thought, obviously. Thank you for standing up to them. We need to take back America one step at a time. Taking these idiots on, showing respect and honor for our military, supporting our troops with care packages and mail, supporting our injured troops and taking on these liberal traitors are baby steps towards this end but we shall win!!
Lisa
You’ve got more guts than I do! I appreciate you and all the other people serving in our military!
Lyric Mezzo
Kudos to you CJ!!!!
When someone can’t even formulate a response to a perfectly reasonable question, but instead chooses to try and shout you down, you know that they have fear in their hearts. Fear of maybe hearing something that doesn’t fit in with their fictional accounts.
Keep scaring them!!!!
Anthony
The Pinkos used to say they support the troops but not the war, now they have turned to calling the troops murderers and torturers, and they won’t even allow the troops to speak. I guess the truth about them is now out in the open. They don’t support anybody but themselves. Pathetic.
Jeremy C
People like them just make me sick. We need to send them and everyone like them to San Fransico and build a large wall around the city.
Beth* A.
Does it have to be San Francisco? Such a wonderfully located harbor, such beautiful scenery… Couldn’t we wall in, say, Fresno, instead??? I’m not trying to pick on this other town, because I know nothing about it; it just seems a shame to waste SF on people like these.;-)
From Commnent #4:
They did this in front of your children, CJ?
CJ
Beth, yes. But they were fine. My daughter said she wanted to yell at the lady but held her tongue. She’s almost 10. I would have stayed longer but didn’t want to subject my kids to what was surely to follow from my lips and theirs.

CJ my Man, …Welcome to Freedom Lane….
I have gotten upset with people just like this when they have told me about the baby killers in Nam…..I felt like why should I defend their right for freedom…..But Protecting Freedom is ONLY a oneway Street….We defend it for ALL…..

oh wow CJ I definitely give you credit….watching this video made me angry, I cant imagine how you felt…

Cj,
That was very interesting….over and over again we see how the “peace activist” aren’t so peacefull…and that Iraqi women was only fooling the people who want to be fooled.

Platoon Mom Terri
CJ I think you did a great job and made a lot of very valid points. You and people like you are why the Code Pink wackos have the right to say what they think. My thought is this, if they’re so against what America stands for and the freedoms, that men and women like you are fighting and dying to allow them to to continue enjoying, why don’t they go to Iraq themselves… They hate our country and what it stands for, but you sure as hell don’t see them knocking down doors to get over there themselves, do you. Watching the video, made me wish that I was there, standing beside you. But it probably is a good thing I wasn’t. I don’t think I’d have been quite as “politically correct” as you were! LOL!
Beth* A.
Just watched (most of) the video on dial-up, took forEVER but worth it; really grateful your part was on at the beginning, tho. How you kept your cool thru most of it…I just don’t know. Not easy to watch. That lady shrieking about ‘being too nice’ – did she even SEE that your children were right there in front of her during most of her diatribe? Guess that would be a ‘no’. Shame on them for not even feigning to listen, except a few in the crowd.
Well done.
Ian
CJ,
I wish that I could say that I am amazed by the actions of the code pink organizers. I’m not. I really wish I could say that I was suprised that they would willingly promote an individual with such obvious credebility problems. I’m not.
What I really, really wish, is that you guys had a good lawyer, and your bearded friend had been touched a little more forcefuly. Didn’t you ever wonder how Fred Phelps funds his hijinks?

Bless you. I watched the video and have linked your blog and the video on our blog at MFVOV. I do wish that as many people as possible see the way that a Code Pink idiot actually speaks to our troops when they run into one face to face. They hate America and they hate our troops.
Code Pink just stinks.
Warthog555
I should be angry but your account of that meeting has me laughing out loud. Way to go! I think the anti-pinkers should be called “Big Brass Ones”!
yankeemom
CJ, you do good!!! Thank you for walking into the fire.
Patriot, Old Style
The fact that every single one of the 31 “opinions” of this event are slanted to ONE SIDE shows a clear lack of balance in this forum. I do not disagree with your experience at the meeting, which sounded one-sided itself. But THIS forum is no example of a balanced conversation. Sounds like counter-bashing. And by the way, legally speaking, the idea that Saddam ALSO mistreated people is completely irrelevant to whether we should have. Our morals should stand the test of OUR STANDARDS, not Saddam’s. If you treated prisoners toughly and fairly, then hats off. If OTHERS treated them unfairly and cruelly then THIS AMERICAN, not a “pinko”, thinks that’s wrong by ANY moral standard we respect.
Platoon Mom Terri
I’ll address Patriot, Old Style, by saying that CJ doesn’t control our opinions on his forum. In fact, CJ welcomes opinions that disagree with his. If you read other posts in his blog, you’ll see that many times there are opinions in opposition to his here. CJ wants to inform the public and the world that all of the negative things that are portrayed about America and American Soldiers that we get constant barrages of from the media aren’t everything that’s happening in Iraq, Afghanistan and other places in the world. The public NEEDS to be educated about the GOOD that American Soldiers like CJ have done and are continuing to do in those countries.
Like CJ, I don’t have a problem listening and hearing the opinions of others, BUT and I emphasize the word BUT, I get really irritated when people, such as those shown in the video of Eman’s speech, who label all people of a particular profession the same, such as their label of ALL American soldiers as killers and accuse them ALL of “skinning prisoners alive”, etc., etc., then I do have a problem with them.
I worked for many years as a Law Enforcement officer. I dealt firsthand with negative labels that are put upon people in that profession. Nothing pissed me off more, than someone who had a bad experience with a single police officer, assume that because of that bad experience with a “bad or dirty” officer, that we were all like that. We weren’t. In fact, I spent a lot of time helping to weed out those dirty officers. That’s exactly what the Code Pink people are doing here. That’s exactly what I have a problem with. Not the fact that they have an opinion that isn’t the same as mine. So, to Patriot, Old Style, please take the time to read ALL of CJ’s blog and you’ll see that CJ doesn’t have a problem with opposing views, but welcomes those views and encourages those views and healthy debates over issues relevant to today’s society.
CJ
Patriot, a couple of things about your comments.
1) Balance is available. This is site is open to ANYONE who wishes to come. I’ve deleted no comments. Should I go out and solicite opposing views? Should I just disagree with my own opinions and post something negative about the event? It’s not my responsibility to be balanced. It’s my site and I report things as I see them. Feel free to invite your friends.
2) Never at any time do I suggest, on this site or anywhere else, that it’s okay to abuse prisoners because Saddam did it. As a matter of fact, if you do a search on this site on “Abu Ghraib” why don’t you read my opinions of those soldiers. They got off easy. My problem lies with the fact that this woman goes around the country calling American soldiers murderers, all American soldiers, and isn’t challenged except by a few. I saw firsthand what happens when she spreads these lies. She does this and makes not one mention of what Saddam did to millions of people during his 30 year reign of terror. As a matter of fact, if you watched the video, you heard me admit that soldier at Abu Ghraib screwed up, but not every soldier at Abu Ghraib was beating people. So, it IS relevant in context that a Baathist would be spewing hate about American actions and not mentioning her very own. That’s akin to Timothy McVeigh going to Iraq and denouncing the Iraqis as terrorists for suicide bombing.
These aren’t “opinions” as you put it. They are opinions. And I’ll continue to be slanted to the way I’ve seen things. And thanks for bringing some “balance” to this issue. Being in the presence of those other unbalanced yahoos wasn’t enough, I guess.
Suellen
We have to go to such sites as yours, CJ, to find ANY kind of balance. The Main Stream Media is slanted WAY the other way.
Good for you, CJ. Good for you. And keep up the fight.
White Rose
When standing out numbered in the crowd, remember you are not alone. Many are with you and will give you strength when you need it. Through crap like this, we find that we become closer to those that feel the same as we do. I understand how you must have felt. I too get that kind of crap from many people when I tell them that I am a civilian contractor over here working to support the troops. My hat is off to you for doing what you do. Stay strong and true!
Cheryl
WTF is a patriot, old style??? The idiot can’t even get his name right. My definition is a patriot with a great love of his/her country, our military, our flag and one who will not sit still and hear any of the above trashed.
If you want a different view, then go read Code Pink’s page and leave the real patriots of this country alone. Sorry, folks. I am sick to death of traitors. I don’t come here to read a balanced view of the topic. I come to read a true patriot’s view on matters that interest me.
Tom Gorman
CJ, way to go. It is a real shame that when you stood up and tried to get relevant, questions answered honestly, and expressed a different point of view that many of those at the meeting tried to deny you your freedom of speech. I am glad that they were not successful. (I am even happier to hear about the resultant turmoil, it is a safe to bet that the events organizers didn’t anticipate that, neither did you it sounds like.)
The rest of us need to take a page out or your book if we ever find ourselves in position like that. And stand up for what we believe in no matter how uncomfortable or unpopular it may make us.
Keep up your blog, and good work.
Jess Dawn
My husband and I go on walks with our kids on Saturdays and we decided to go down some side roads to get a little more exercise. Well I tend to put the pinkos in the same category as what I saw on a vehicle on this walk.
One bumper sticker reads “We Support our Troops, but NOT the War”. Right next to it is a sticker that reads “No flag is big enough to cover the shame of killing innocent people”.
I don’t get it. The ones doing the killing are the soldiers, but they are doing shameful things and killing innocent people. Yet they are supported by this person who claims to support the troops.
Does this make sense to anyone? Maybe if you do understand then you can explain it to me.
Jennifer
CJ,
Thank you for standing up for your fellow Soldiers. Those guys are idiots!

CJ, brother I don’t know how you could stand being in a room full of bleeding hearts for this Saddam Supporter. I know it must of been hard for you, after all we did serve in the same unit and fought on the same grounds(Thunder Run,Fallujah). What really pissed me off was when you started to ? her comments she made, all fires shifted on you the “wrong answer” I wish I had been there to support you, but the post tramatic stress disorder would have kicked in, and all hell would have broken loose ha!ha! just like when ICRC was here at NTC and I cut loose on his little pinko heart when he ? our force protection proceedures. CJ some just don’t get it and never will. We know the media’s propaganda spin is our worst enemy right now… you know how the media thinks “if it bleeds it leads” They aren’t reporting on all good news stories, the on going projects and completed projects i.e. Schools,Hospitals, their return to Normalcy… well brother you know if you need me i’m there. v/r JoMo
Raoul
Patriot Old Style = POS?
Dude, that they didn’t bother to criticize the other side is not meant to be moral relativism on our part. It’s meant to show that they are NOT for peace, they are FOR an American defeat. They ignore the deeds of their side.
They portray every American troop as a baby killer when they are certanly not. And we do punish our miscreants, where Saddam, Eman and Code Pink celebrated them as “progressive”.
Take off.
Raoul
To Jess Dawn:
It’s only because the majority of Americans respect the troops that the anti-war left HAS to say that.
The public will not listen to them when they do their “baby killer” rhetoric.
In that respect, Code Pink and others are grave robbers when they say “We Support The Troops”. They steal the gratitude, respect and sorrow the public gives to those lost and turn it into a weapon against those Americans still fighting. Code Pink believes what the bad guys believe, kill enough Americans and our politicians will force a pull out and that number does not have to be great. And Code Pinks advertise the number of dead wherever and whenever possible, frequestly giving Al-Qaeda “extra credit” by including deaths from accidents, natural causes and cancer in the totals they put on the signs.
CJ
For those that don’t know, John (aka Comment #43) and I served together for the Thunder Run into Baghdad and in Fallujah. I wish I’d have thunk (bad grammer I know) to interview while we served together again at Fort Irwin. He’s a great American and Purple Heart recipient. The kind of guy you are glad has your back. No one is more professional. Thanks John. If I need you, I’ve got your number.

CJ: Must have felt like being in the wrong place at the right time. But you are far above them in terms of character and strength. Proud of you! These poor people could use some positive leadership and guidance, however, it is apparent they aren’t quite ready for that yet, so don’t give their little pea-brains more than they can chew on at one time. CJ,
I’m a bit behind in following your blog (which still remains a favorite!); but I just read this post, and I just love you (I think I’ve said that before). Haven’t watched the video yet, but I will. Thanks for posting on this and for doing what you did. You do make a huge difference in this world, by everything that you do.

Ok…I watched 17 minutes into it before I got tired of her. Geez…looks like a senior center. I notice a lot of gray hairs in the audience. I really think that many of our senior citizens who don’t have as wide an access of information as us computer users do, and only get their news from TV and newsprint of the major and local papers, stand to be ill-informed. I work with a number of senior citizens, and at least, this is my experience. Even the few who do have computers aren’t savvy about how to go about looking up all the variety of news sources to be found.
Good job in putting her in the hot seat. Were those your two daughters with you? Lol…their hero!
I’m glad the Iraqi gentleman also put her to task.
