I enjoy reading the funny pages in the New York Times Slime. For me, they start on page 1 and last the whole way through.

Today’s headline, “Sectarian Strife Fuels Gun Sales in Baghdad”, offers many chuckles. The Slime points to the fact that rising gun prices MUST mean that “more Iraqis than ever have been buying, carrying and stockpiling weapons, adding an unnerving level of firepower to Baghdad’s streets.” There has always been an unnerving level of firepower in Baghdad’s streets. It’s been that way for years. The Iraqi government refuses to ban automatic weapons, which I’m not against being a firm believer in the right to bear arms.

The article claims there are “growing swarms of young, religious, mostly uneducated men taking to the streets” with weapons in tow. I’m interested in seeing what the Slimes consider a swarm. They never really qualify the statement. They do however profile a 17 year old Iraqi illegally on the street with an AK and a Texas-style attitude about the prospect of someone taking it from him.

And then there’s this comment further down the page: “After [Saddam] was toppled, security evaporated, opening the floodgates for looters, carjackers, kidnappers and thieves.” Perhaps the Slime forgot that in 20 December 2002, Saddam personally ordered the release of ALL prisoners from his prisons except those accused of spying for Israel or the US.

Even murderers were being freed on the condition that they make restitution to victims’ families — including financial compensation — within one month. Surely, Saddam followed through on that. However, the NYSlime article doesn’t mention this anywhere. Yet it’s quick to point out that we have some involvement in the chaos. What do you think life would be like here if Bush just one day decided to release all our prisoners convicted of murder, rape, sodomy, sexual abuse, armed robbery, and other malicious crimes. Do you think there’d be a “floodgate” of crime after that?

There are multiple references to the Samarra attack as reasons for people to arm themselves. The Slime hints numerous times to the impending Civil War the country is facing. And they’re doing everything they can to speed it up. After all, news is getting slim these days. The Bush bashing is getting old and stale. They need a civil war. Maybe that will raise circulation.

So where are these weapons coming from? Bueller…Bueller….”The weapons flow from many places. Arms dealers say good, cheap ammunition comes from Syria, and scratched-and-dented assault rifles from Iran. Several dealers said former Iraqi Army soldiers were a reliable source of grenades.”

  1. CJ,
Isn’t it almost like the New York Times and several others in the news media are working for the enemy?! Seems they thrive on bad news happening so they will sell papers but in the long run it’s hurting our country by them printing these half-truths! :(

  2. NYT is the center of the universe for America Haters. All the news that is fit to manufacture. My BS degree was in Journalism. I have never worked in that field. Upon graduation I went into the Marine Corps. It was a cleansing experience. I never looked back.

The main tactic of fishwrapers like the the NYT is the ‘NIGYYSOB.’ That is an ancient psycho game of ‘Now I Got You You Son of a B***h.’ The editors bias the paper the moment that they pick which stories to run, and how many print inches they give them.
Their hope all during this troubled time has been to find that ‘golden bb’ that will bring down the president and his agenda. Time after time their efforts have misfired. The instant that their latest ‘great liberal hope’ story is discredited the quickly go to the next one. (Plume, body armor, civil war, Army atrocities yada yada yada) Although nothing has stuck, the constant drumbeat confuses the weak and uninformed. It is having a really bad effect on their circulation, and their business. The liberal torch bearers have nothing but distain for all things business, and hopefully that plus the backlash (so many debunked propaganda stories) will be their ultimate undoing.

I read your experiences with the America Haters with great interest. Being one of those Vietnam Era old guys, I promise never to back down from their hate. To never allow them, wherever I encounter them, to insult veterans. You, the military of today, are my family. Nobody badmouths my brothers and sisters. My son-in-law has just left home to begin his journey to the sandbox. One of my sons has just set up his ASFAB for this Friday. His ambition is to attend Army OCS within the next month or so ( yea yea yea I am a total failure, he isn’t chosing the Marines, I need a Scoresby).

I believe that because the Moonbats, NYT et all are not honest, but simply seek that ‘golden bb’ story, there is nothing anyone can say to them to show them they are wrong. They will simply deny reality and retreat back to their prepared list of ‘issues’. I also believe that they will not win as long as we stick together and never give up ground.

  3. Well said both of you. Jim, I too, will not allow these people to badmouth my brothers and sisters, which includes the Vietnam vets. Thank you and welcome back.

  4. “BS degree was in Journalism”

Hi Jim! Think it’s coincidence it’s called a BS? :)

  5. Lol SK …. I think it was planned that way. BS = Bull S**t, and in journalism MS = More S**t, and Phd = Piled Higher and Deeper.

  6. I’m really not surprised the New York Times went out of their way to paint such a deragotory picture. I just hope them and the rest of the MSM will have enough dignity to respect the upcoming Iraqi Liberation Day and the sacrifice our soldiers made to make it happen.
