A SOLDIER'S PERSPECTIVE
THE WEB'S LEADING MILITARY BLOG SINCE 2004
About a month ago, I told you about some kids who were organizing events to support troops. They’ve recently finished their Sacramento concert and have their eyes set on San Antonio. If you can spare even just a couple of dollars to help these guys out, please donate to support this effort. Here’s the latest on their efforts:
As we have somewhat recovered and recouped from the amazing Sacramento rally, we are having to again face the uphill battle of organizing numerous approaching events. It can be uncannily easy to lose momentum, inspiration, and faith when faced with so much work in seemingly so little time.
So why are we doing this? The passion and beliefs that inspired us to begin Operation Completion remain, we just have relocate them and remind ourselves again of what is at stake, who we’re doing this for, and how much it will mean to them.
Remember who we are ‘fighting’ for? He is a hero. He forfeited the comforts that belonged to him. He offered his life to defend home, family, and country. He knows the true meaning of sacrifice, and for him, the word “courage” stands for something entirely different than it does for any other person. Deep in his eyes you can see memories of suffering, of pain, and of the quiet knowledge that he has fulfilled his destiny.
He is a Soldier.
We who have never fought in a war have such a vague concept of what it would be like to be half-a-world-away from home, in combat – we who sit comfortable and secure in America, with our endless list of complaints about insignificant things.
Imagine how a young soldier would feel after no sleep and maybe two or three meals in the last 48 hours, after sweating blood and watching his fellow soldiers drop beside him, after not having a bed or a toothbrush or clean water or a shower in weeks, after traveling hundreds of miles with nothing to see but foreign sinister landscape and scattered enemy soldiers trying to kill him… As you contemplate this image, bear in mind that every freedom we enjoy was bought for us by the ‘blood, sweat, and tears’ of our soldiers.
And this is why we keep on… this is why we believe, not only in the completion of our soldiers’ missions overseas but also in the completion of our mission here to support them. The personal sacrifices we make for Operation Completion pale starkly in comparison to what our soldiers give for us.
Don’t lose faith now. The time has come – the tide is turning. Our soldiers give everything for us, and it’s time to give something back to them. We are still here at home, and some of them are gone. So now, we will fight for the ones that are left. The battles are different here on the homeland, but this is our war… and with your help, we will fight it hard, and we will prevail.
In order for Operation Completion to continue with our hope to show support and gratefulness to our soldiers, we desperately need your help. The groundwork has been laid and the planning done… we need you now to step up to the plate and help us turn this vision into reality. We must not give up. Please consider showing your support through a donation… just click the ‘donate’ link to the left and complete the secure form.
Operation Completion is a 501(c)3 organization. Donations will be directly used for Operation Completion’s immediate needs, such as plane tickets for our band, renting sound systems, paying for hotel rooms, etc.

I hope some of you caught Micah Derry on Fox News The Big Story Sunday night. Well done interview as the troop heads to their next rally in Boise this Wednesday. If you have pals there, let them know. Overcoming each challenge along the way, these great youngsters are finally getting some media attention that may help with rally attendance and spreading a positive message in support of you… America’s greatest treasure… our Armed Forces.

I did, and I have a list of email addresses for anybody who’s interested…you can e-mail me at debatersblues@gmail.com. You guys have a sweet blog going here, keep it up.
