A SOLDIER'S PERSPECTIVE
THE WEB'S LEADING MILITARY BLOG SINCE 2004
This afternoon I will be departing my lovely home in North Carolina bound for Arkansas and Missouri. Anna and I haven’t had our big church wedding since our families are 1,000 miles away, so that is planned for next week. In the mean time, I will be driving I-40 all the way to Memphis and then hitting I-55 and US-63N (future I-555). Anyone along those routes that wants to have a cup of coffee? Shoot me an email. I’d love to meet people that read the blog. I will drive all of the North Carolina portion tonight, and Tennessee and Arkansas tomorrow.
Oh, and posting may be light from me over the next 10 days. I’ll be visiting with family and you know, getting married (well, having the church ceremony). Don’t worry, I’ll post pictures.
Update: I made it in to my aunt and uncle’s. My cousin and I are heatedly debating the war. Good times.

I want a full report on all road kill, with pictures and background information about their lives before the tragic ending. Now, the NCO in me says:
Be safe, don’t drink and drive, only use your cell when you’re making a call, don’t throw of bottles of urine onto the roadside, driving with your head out the window and tongue flapping is weird, slamming on the brakes and screaming to scare your sleeping wife isn’t cool, and first and foremost… UFOs aren’t real. I think that about covers your safety briefing.

Have a safe trip and don’t let the dogs eat the cake!!!

Roger that, Sergeant. I can’t do the brakes trick. Anna headed home a couple of weeks ago for a family trip and to get everything ready.
Thanks everyone for the wishes of saftey!

You’ll be turning to the north before you get to beautiful Oklahoma, so I won’t be able to take you up on the offer of a cup of coffee. But, I have made the trip from eastern NC along upto I-40 and then across many times. Try to take the time to enjoy the view. Usually when we travel we get too caught up in where we’re going, and don’t take the time to enjoy where we are. The mountains in western NC and eastern TN are beautiful, the view of the Mississippi river flowing under you near Memphis, leading into the plains of Arkansas is a sight I always longed to see.
If you ever make it further west along I-40, let me know. Dinner is on me.

Cpl M have a safe trip! Too bad you’re not coming just a little bit further West, into Texas, or I’d take you up on that offer of coffee!
