Patriot’s (incorrect) comments about Donald Rumsfeld made CNN’s The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer. After reading the short paragraph (Uncle Jimbo from Blackfive and Patriot are last two paragraphs), I realize that I haven’t really introduced Patriot. I thought for sure I had back in May or June when he signed on, but I can’t find the post. But, since he is getting quoted on CNN, I thought I’d introduce or at least remind everyone about him. We’re creating an “About The Bloggers” page that is almost done (actually, I’m the only one that knows about it so far) and will give a brief bio of each person. Obviously, some people like Patriot are not at liberty to give out their true names due to their deployments or jobs.

So, here’s what I can say about Patriot and he can add more where he sees fit. He’s 35, not 34, years old and a US Army SFC stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington. I’ve verified he’s a real person through AKO (yes, I know his real name; there’s no one named Patriot on AKO). I can’t remember if he wants his MOS revealed so I’ll leave that to him. He said he can’t tell me if he’s deployed or not now, but I do know that he returned from Iraq in 2005. And, he’s in the Stryker Brigade. Those guys get all the cool toys. So, the next time Wolf Blitzer wants to highlight this great soldier, he’ll have a little more to go off of. Wolf, you can also email him through the link on the sidebar.

I’ll let everyone know when the Bio page is finished.

  1. CNN didn’t fact check? – imagine that.

If you want to read this, it is in the last half dozen paragraphs – my blood pressure went up reading the entire thing.

Patriot’s mistake was an honest one and Rumsfeld didn’t flaunt his service like others do – but, his overall point of Rumsfled being a good SEC DEF is a good one.

  2. Wow, congratulations. Even if CNN flubbed it, as they often do, it’s still good publicity.

  3. That’s pretty cool. Do I get a bonus or something for the exposure? And I apologize for not taking the time to research Rumsfeld’s military service. He did serve in the Navy for about 4 years. And I want to make clear I still supported him. We’re all anxious to see how the new Secretary handles things.

  4. Absolutely, Patriot. Some Krispy Kremes are on their way.

  5. Your bonus is to be able to advertize more due to more traffic, from the exposure. You should capitalize on it.

  6. You all missed the most important point here ;-) Woo Hoo another Stryker guy!!! I have written or supported several and you have all done some incredible things. Thank you Patriot for your service and for doing one $%#@ of a job! Congrats on the CNN story.

  7. I guess when Wolf was researching blogs for his show and stumbled across ASP, he didn’t look too closely or he’d have noticed how to contact the bloggers here, huh? CJ’s buying Krispie Kremes? Mmmmmmmm yummy!

  8. Wow. That is pretty cool. Too bad I went into hiding for a few days because of Birthday Ball stuff.

  9. Hey, CPL M, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! The Marine Corps turns 231 tomorrow!!

  10. Yup! I’m working on my birthday post right now.
