Our Marine friend in Iraq, 1stSgt Gary, sends us this tribute to his fallen comrade:

Master Sergeant Brian P. McAnulty

Master Sergeant Brian P. McAnulty, 39 years old. To most he was Master Sergeant, to few he was Brian, but to all he was simply “TOP. On December 11th, 2006 he laid down his life while defending his country. He was a tactical genius, a weapons instructor and a stellar Marine. His presence will be sorely missed throughout the entire Marine Corps. Top had an infectious personality and was loved by all. If there was a group of Marines gathering on the LZ, it was because Top was entertaining. He would tell stories and jokes. He smiled and laughed. When he was “on, everyone wanted to be in on the action. He was the most passionate Marine I have ever been in contact with. He was emotional to a fault. He loved Marines and would do anything for HIS Marines. He always sacrificed his own comfort to provide for others. He was kind, unselfish, honest and brave. He was a Leader of Marines, a mentor for all ranks and a truly Great American Hero! May you rest in Peace, my brother, your legacy carries on.

As soon as I get all the necessary information, his full story will be added to They Have Names.

It would be my honor if I could have been right beside you in service. Just 3 more years at Cal State University San Bernardino and maybe I will with the soldiers you served with when I enlist.
