The wonderful redheads Kit and Heidi from Euphoric Reality are going to attend the Gathering of the Eagles and are looking for folks to join them. Get the word out and head on over to ER for the details. Tell ‘em Marcus sent ya.

Change in plans, dear readers. As you know, we had long ago made our plans to attend the 2nd Annual Milblogging Conference in D.C. in May. We were very pleased to participate in last year’s conference, and were excited to attend again this year, and recently began raising funds to that end. However, we’re now aware of an event in D.C. where we can walk our talk – in other words, take action for our veterans instead of just TALKING about it. We have discussed it seriously, and have decided that going to The Gathering of Eagles is a better use of the support we receive from our readers than going to a conference.

  1. I would love to join in, but unfortunately I’m not going to be able to make it out that way. I am however going to see about getting something organized here in the Fort Hood area that day. I also posted about the Gathering of Eagles over at ASM, to help spread the word about this. Thanks for the heads up Marcus!

  2. I hope that this goes by peacefully. There might be violence as a sailor said in the vamortgagepost. I hope the counter protest has the strength and the grounds to fight back.

  3. You know what pisses me off about this whole thing? They are going to use the Vietnam Wall as their rally point. A bunch of socialists gathering on sacred ground cannot stand. I’ll be there to help hold back the hordes.

  4. And what about the patriotic Americans who oppose the war, CJ? Are you going to deny them, too, the right to stand at the Wall? Or how about those patriotic Americans who oppose the war and who fought in Vietnam or Iraq I? Will you be denying them, too?

You have a right to be ticked off at folks who might deface memorials, but please don’t lump all Americans who oppose the war into the same category.

  5. CF, my purpose in going is to ensure that the memorials dedicated to our brave men and women aren’t defiled the way they defiled the capital at the last “peace rally”. These socialists know no boundaries. They can stand at the wall all they want. They just won’t do it unopposed. It’s the UNpatriotic ones that oppose this war I’m worried about.

What about you? You gonna make an appearance?

  6. I really wish I could go!! I’ve already made plans for the Milblog Conf and bought my plane ticket and all, or I would change my plans and go. *sigh*

  7. CJ,

No, I won’t be making an appearance at this rally. But if I were, I would be standing with the Sheehan/Fonda crowd, protesting the blunderous decisions that the current administration has made and continues to make concerning the Iraq war. Having said that, I would, however, be equally appalled and outraged as anyone else on this site were someone to deface a war memorial.
