Cpl M has given me access to write a post so that I can publicly thank cigar.com.

As you might recall, Cpl M has a project lined up to give his brothers-in-arms a chance to decompress and hang out during Cigar Hour with the Chaplain. I think his idea is brilliant because we all know the guys are gonna need some down time and military Chaplains are a source of comfort and strength. There’s a reason why there is a chaplain attached to big units. As an Army brat and later as an Army wife, no matter where I went, I knew there would be a service held somewhere and a chaplain I could talk to if need be.

Anyway, I sent out some emails to different online cigar companies and only one responded.

cigar.com.

I currently have 2 humidors winging to my house at incredibly cut rate prices. Over 40% off the retail. And this company didn’t have to do it at all. Heck, the others didn’t even reply to my emails and say that they couldn’t. But Jeff Jackson responded and did a generous thing. Once Cpl M’s company settles in and their mail situation stabilizes, I’ll be sending the humidors to him. Max capacity for the two of them combined is well over 200 cigars, so they will always have fresh ones on hand for any Marine who would like one.

Jeff Jackson also sent me a link to a sale item they have available right now. That is a GREAT price for a box of premium cigars.

Basically, I wanted to make sure to acknowledge and publicly thank Jeff Jackson and cigar.com for helping to support our troops and for their kindness in dealing with me. It always renews my faith in Americans in some tiny way to see voluntary support and altruism. Thank you.

  1. OK – someone who smokes cigars out there? Which flavor – I have just the unit I want to send some to!

  2. And, I want to do business with a company who has their heart in the right place!

  3. From what I understand, if the guys don’t really smoke cigars on a regular basis, it’s better to go with a lighter colored cigar because it is milder. I buy the ones that are between 5.5 and 6 in length and around a 48-50 ring. Churchills are long like that. Basically, the bigger the numbers, the longer and fatter they are. That’s about the extent of my knowledge. But you can always email them and I’m sure Jeff would be pleased to help you. If you would like his email address, let me know.

btw, thanks for thinking of the guys!!

  4. Flag Gazer, hold up before you order. Jeff has contacted me and he has made me an offer that I’m discussing with Cpl M (when he comes back online). It has to do with if people order because of these posts (or through a chatboard I may set up to discuss cigars) and whether we can get some cigars from the company for Cpl M’s project (for free, I’m assuming). That would be a GREAT boon to Cigar Hour with the Chaplain!!

See?!? What a wonderful man that Jeff is. ;)

  5. I love to hear about company’s that do this kind of thing! It’s awesome.

On a much smaller scale I frequent a small, locally owned, used book store to buy books for the soldiers (and myself lol). When she found out why I was buying a stack of mostly “guy” books she threw in 4 more for free. I love when that happens!

  6. “‘guy’ books”!!! I can imagine!!! :o

  7. Heh, I forgot to say that she asked who I was buying for b/c it’s not what I usually buy (small store, they know their customers). When I explained I was sending them to soldiers that’s when she threw in the extras. Gotta proof read better LOL

  8. LOL Hawk, it’s a family store :D More along the lines of Action/Adventure and Horror. I send to one soldier that loves Horror and the covers of the books freak me out LOL
