But only if they commit subversion and disobey lawful orders.

Leaders of the state Democratic Party voted overwhelmingly Saturday to support Lt. Ehren Watada, the Fort Lewis officer who refused orders to serve in Iraq.

“We support and commend Lt. Ehren Watada for his courage, moral leadership, and commitment to duty demonstrated by his act of resistance to the continued costly, destructive and immoral U.S. military occupation of Iraq,” the resolution said.

One could easily argue that those that “overwhelmingly” supported this resolution are just the STATE Democratic leadership; they don’t speak for the entire Democratic Party who may disagree with it. If that were the case, I’m pretty sure the National Democratic Party would have released a statement of opposition. The fact is that they didn’t.

To be fair, there WERE Democrats, at least within the Washington State party, that did disagree with the resolution.

Mike Carnahan, a Democratic Central Committee member from Clark County, spoke against the Watada resolution. It’s an all-volunteer military, he said. “I find it offensive as, a veteran, to have him doing what he’s doing,? Carnahan said.

It’s more than just offensive – it’s illegal. Everyone else used extremes to justify their support for the resolution.

“To say he’s required to follow all orders would be to negate the Nuremberg trials,? said Mike Mosbarger, a Mason County Democrat.

So, in essence, the Democratic Party is comparing the United States Military, an organization of professionals dedicated to making the world a better place and looking out for the little man, to Nazis. Basically, I’m a Nazi to the Democrats. At Nuremburg, leaders of the Nazi party were brought to trial for their actions during the holocaust. Hundreds of thousands (millions by some accounts) of Jews were killed systematically and not as a result of collateral damage or insurgent operations. They were targeted. While many innocent Iraqis have been killed by US Troops, the difference is that they were neither targeted directly nor under orders to be targeted (obviously, with the exception of a few rogue Soldiers and Marines who have been dealt with or are currently being charged).

The charges during the Nuremburg trial resemble NOTHING of what is happening in Iraq:

1. Participation in a common plan or conspiracy for the accomplishment of crime against peace
2. Planning, initiating and waging wars of aggression and other crimes against peace
3. War crimes
4. Crimes against humanity

Slowly, the Democrats are showing their true colors and continued disrespect for our military. They support the breakdown of military discipline, defeat in military operations, and the political destruction of our Commander-in-Chief. Only a few stand out against the crowd in support of our military and accomplishment of our mission – the total destruction of terrorists.

  1. How utterly disgusting….

  2. I keep thinking ‘Now, THIS will be the one that everybody is revulsed by, the one that jumps the shark for the Democrats!”

    I’m still waiting.

  3. Looks like they would see that they are hurting our troops and the nation by supporting Watada. Anything to get back at the president for the “so called” illegal war in Iraq!
Give me a break! Alot of the democrats voted to go to Iraq and now they are against the war!!

  4. You know how they are…. they wouldn’t DARE admit that positive things might be happening over there.

  5. CJ,

Your April 28 post More Evidence of Success is posted over at Olbermann Watch. Sir Loin of Beef commented as follows (as he often does):

This pathetic. We have over 150,000 troops in harm’s way, and we’re spending over 10 billion dollars a month on this occupation, and you sit at your keyboard crowing about the seizure of a couple dozen small arms and some Fred Sanford weaponry, and a couple dozen deaths of people identfied as insurgents. Are these really the metrics of “victory” to you people?

Forget the fact that American deaths in the first quarter of 2007 have been 50% higher than in previous quarters – forget that bombings are up by a similar percentage. Forget the fact that the Iraqi people poll nearly unanimously that we get out of their country.

The Bush administration has eliminated from its published casualty rates any assessment of deaths by explosive – did you know that? they arbitrarilly decide to stop counting deaths caused by car-bombs and “suiciders” and VOILA! the “violence is decreasing”! You people are vapid morons.

The surge is nothing new – its painfully, blatantly more of the same; whack-a-mole.

SLOB probably didn’t read carefully and didn’t realize it came from your blog. If you have the time, could you give a couple of lines of rebuttal over there? Although its Olbermann Watch, the war is the focal point of discussion everyday. Thanks for what you do. Whether or not you are able to respond, I appreciate your perspective. I just discovered your site.

  6. Looks like my comments about SLOB have put my posts on approval before posting. I guess I played to rough for Mike, SLOBB, O’Lielly. You hit a liberal in the mouth and he drops into the fetal position in a second.

I could care less. SLOB is a mamma’s boy who has gotten no further out in the world of his sandbox than he is able to keep his big toe dangling over the edge.
