I’ve been pretty hands off on this, for obvious reasons, but I wanted to weigh in briefly. Up front, I want to say I largely agree with Patriot.

Call me brainwashed, call me optimistic, call me naive, but I don’t think the Army can/will require that Soldiers notify commanders of all posts. The disturbing thing, though, is that the regulation can easily be interpreted that way, even if it is unlikely. I tend to see the best in people and not the worst. Only time will tell how this disturbing development will be handled. I advise a wait and see approach, but I’m still worried about it. This regulation is only going to drive troops underground and increase the possibility of more violations.

  1. CJ~ I have to say I agree with you,(and LTC Patrick, Duty In The Desert, am hoping and guessing it’s ok to mention, here) in that this is an issue, with many multi-sides. (all very important sides). Time will tell, something not to get too overly excited about, yet.
Again, I have never seen anything “leaked’, here @ ASP, ASM, or any other of the milblogs I have read. (Here’s hoping, all’s safe) LTC Patrick did make mention of some types of “leaks” out there, so I am hoping that this is just all a reminder, for some. Please forgive me, or correct me, if I am just being too optimistic, and/ or naive, too. :)
    Happy Friday, and weekend all!
