A SOLDIER'S PERSPECTIVE
THE WEB'S LEADING MILITARY BLOG SINCE 2004
In Part II (original here) of my exposing the anti-war folk in this country for the lying manipulators they are, I’m going to expose the TRUTH behind the whole “Mission Accomplished” issue when George Bush was aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln

I’ve said it enough here about how the banner was designed by the carrier group and provided by the White House. It was a symbol of the mission that the group had accomplished – the longest deployment for the carrier in history had come to a close as a success. However, everyone that I’ve talked to who has tried to convince me that Bush is a liar points to this banner. They say that Bush declared success in Iraq over four years ago on that carrier. They must have been watching TV with their volume muted and couldn’t take their eyes off the banner to come to that conclusion.
Bush was pretty clear about what was really accomplished:
Admiral Kelly, Captain Card, officers and sailors of the USS Abraham Lincoln, my fellow Americans: Major combat operations in Iraq have ended. In the battle of Iraq, the United States and our allies have prevailed. (Applause.) And now our coalition is engaged in securing and reconstructing that country.
But, Bush didn’t stop there. Educated anti-war idiots would take a little time and actually investigate what was really said on that ship. If they had, they never would have used this argument to further (even to this day) their cause of making the administration – and by default the military – look bad. If they would have done some research, they’d remember that Bush said this during that speech on the carrier back on May 1, 2003:
We have difficult work to do in Iraq. We’re bringing order to parts of that country that remain dangerous. We’re pursuing and finding leaders of the old regime, who will be held to account for their crimes. We’ve begun the search for hidden chemical and biological weapons and already know of hundreds of sites that will be investigated. We’re helping to rebuild Iraq, where the dictator built palaces for himself, instead of hospitals and schools. And we will stand with the new leaders of Iraq as they establish a government of, by, and for the Iraqi people.
Well, if the mission was really accomplished the way that the anti-war wants us to believe, why would he be saying we still have a lot of work to do and that we’re still pursuing the bad guys? Because the anti-war left in this country thinks that Americans are inherently stupid (and let’s face it, many are) and will not call them on their inaccuracies. After all, they think Americans are too lazy to do anything for themselves and think the government needs to help them every step of the way – unless it means going to war).
Now, don’t take my word for the whole banner issue. If the anti-war morons would have stayed awake (or off the hooka pipe) long enough, they would have heard this little gem towards the end of his “Mission Accomplished” speech:
Americans, following a battle, want nothing more than to return home. And that is your direction tonight. After service in the Afghan — and Iraqi theaters of war — after 100,000 miles, on the longest carrier deployment in recent history, you are homeward bound. Some of you will see new family members for the first time — 150 babies were born while their fathers were on the Lincoln. Your families are proud of you, and your nation will welcome you.
My eight year old could see quite clearly that the “Mission Accomplished” banner was meant specifically for this crew. If not, he would have said that ALL troops were coming home and mentioned all the other babies born during the deployment. Provided you anti-war people didn’t fall asleep again (or pass out from too much cannibis), consider yourselves educated. Rocky Anderson should now understand that this was yet another reason he isn’t smart enough to be mayor of Mayberry, much less the biggest city in Utah.

Well said CJ!! CF/Nephi/Richard/Sharon has a real problem with this issue. He is one of those you speak of!!
Terri
Very well said CJ! Thanks! I agree with Sue, “whatever his name is at the moment” (I won’t use the name here that I used for him/her over at ASM) does have a BIG problem with that. People like that just don’t get it and likely never will, sadly enough.

Thanks for writing this post, CJ. I’ll update my post on it with a link to here, at my blog and over at Flopping Aces. You should check out the YouTube videos I have (not the Rosie one). The 2nd one makes the first one so lame and pathetic and exposes it as willfully dishonest.
If you have the time, Michael Medved had a great hour on this. I think it really is worth listening to.
