A SOLDIER'S PERSPECTIVE
THE WEB'S LEADING MILITARY BLOG SINCE 2004
Pundit Tammy Bruce completely missed the mark when we wrote about US forces engaged Iraqi police. Here is the news article Tammy blogged about.
BAGHDAD – U.S. troops battled Iraqi police suspected of links to Iranian-backed Shiite militiamen, killing six in a rare firefight between American soldiers and their Iraqi partners. Friday’s clash underscored the deep infiltration of militants in the country’s security forces…
In addition to the six police officers, seven gunmen were also killed in Friday’s clash in eastern Baghdad, sparked when U.S. troops arrested a police lieutenant, the American military said in a statement. It said the lieutenant was believed to be helping Iran organize Shiite militants and leading a cell involved in bomb and mortar attacks on U.S. and Iraqi troops.
Now here is what Tammy had to say.
If any of you were unsure about the complete and utter failure of George W. Bush as Commander-In-Chief this will disabuse you of your doubt. Not only are we not engaging the enemy, we are now battling the very people we trained and armed to be police. If Bush had any dignity and actual love for this country, he (and Patraeus) would resign right now.
Tammy, we usually agree on stuff (well, kinda), but this time you’re WAY off. You completely failed to see a few key phrases in the news article you quoted. Here they are with emphasis added.
U.S. troops battled Iraqi police suspected of links to Iranian-backed Shiite militiamen…
It said the lieutenant was believed to be helping Iran organize Shiite militants and leading a cell involved in bomb and mortar attacks on U.S. and Iraqi troops.
Those key phrases Tammy must have skimmed make the police mentioned in the article corrupt and in the pockets of those we’re fighting. They are the very enemy we are trying to destroy in Iraq. Calling for the heads of President Bush and General Patraeus is not necessary since we are attempt to keep corrupt police from causing more damage.
Let’s remember for a moment the scores of bad cops we’ve busted in our own country. Shall we call for the heads of the mayors and police chiefs in their cities? I didn’t think so.

I couldn’t agree with you more Marcus. It’s amazing how people overlook those simple phrases to further their agendas. When I worked in Law Enforcement, we weeded out several “bad cops.” I can think of several cities, who if we followed that line of thinking would have had their entire city government in disarray and day to day operations totally disrupted, if the mayors/city managers and police chiefs would have been terminated, because of the actions of a dirty cop.

Thank you, Terri for your comment and thank you Cpl M who clarified Tammy’s slurring comments. If America and the Coalition forces do not stay the course with vigorous action, tyrannical Islamo-fascism will control more of Earth and for a longer period of time than did the Ottoman Empire.
Again, thank you for ‘A soldier’s Perspective’ and you gutsy guys and gals who are fighting not only terrorism but also the Reids, Pelosis and Murthas who hourly wave the white flag of surrender.
Terri
I’ll have an article up at ASM on Monday that discusses a similiar situation, except one that’s a complete cheap shot at our Troops. Still working on it now, and should have it posting early Monday morning. I’m sure I’ll catch some flak for it from the typical anti-Bush, anti-war in Iraq, anti-military crowd, but frankly I don’t really care.
