A SOLDIER'S PERSPECTIVE
THE WEB'S LEADING MILITARY BLOG SINCE 2004
The Armed Forces Journal quoted a piece of mine written about the complete freak out of the MSM on the lock down of the government network. Here is the portion that quotes me.
“CPL M” at Patriot Soldier (http://militarygear.com/asp) focuses criticism at the Associated Press, which first carried the story and in his view spun it up in a manner that did not reflect the facts. Stating that the AP report was “hiding the complete story under a few paragraphs of sensationalism,” he confirms that the troops have been using cybercafés instead of government computers, that the satellite-based Internet connections in Iraq take three to four times as long to load pages as in the United States (when they don’t simply time out), and that malware is a serious threat that is easy to hide in the electronic clutter of high bandwidth recreational Web sites.
Okay, so they got the name of the blog wrong in the article, but they got it right at the bottom. I guess I can forgive that. Thaks to AFJ for the mention and for accurate quoting. Great job, guys.
Sean “Doc in the Box” Dustman was also quoted.
Update:Jack Wittman of AFJ noticed my blog post and corrected the name of the blog in the story. Thanks for the correction, Jack.

After extensive Google nerd research, I can’t even find a blog called Patriot Soldier.

You’d be amazed at how many of the powers that be read the MilBlogs. I just wish they’d take our suggestions seriously. I think it’d be pretty awesome to have a huge MilBlogger round table up in DC for us active duty types to meet with our big bosses. Of course, local chains of command would completely freak out at the idea.
