A SOLDIER'S PERSPECTIVE
THE WEB'S LEADING MILITARY BLOG SINCE 2004
This was sent in from Chad to share as a Kid’s Perspective:
My son, Spencer, started Kindergarten two weeks ago. On Thursday he said to me “My teacher died………or she had a baby. I can’t remember which.”
I asked “What??? Are you sure?”
“Yes,” he said “she was not at school today.”
I asked him if he had a substitute. “Nope and my teacher wasn’t there today.” I knew better than to think the school was letting my son run around his room unsupervised.
Well I knew better than to think that she had a baby because she is way too old. I would think that the school would notify us if she passed away so we could break it to Spencer.
So on Friday after school I asked “Is your teacher back?” “Nope, I told you she died or was having a baby.” he replied.
So I decided to email the dead, baby having or died having a baby teacher. One of those combinations had to be right…………..right?!?!
My email said: “Spencer informed me yesterday that he had a new teacher because you either died or had a baby. If you had a baby – congratulations!! If you died – you will be missed. Hope all is well either way.”
Come to find out, Spencer’s teacher had just very sick for two days and had not had a baby nor had she died. Little did I know he had NO clue what a substitute was.

Tee Hee! That is so funny! Kids are so sweet and innocent and don’t really know what situations are but they cheer us up and make us laugh!!
Miss Ladybug
As a current substitute teacher, that’s just too funny! I’d never really given it any thought that a child new to school might not grasp that concept!

Kids will say the darndes things you never know what they will come up with or what is on their mind. Thank goodness for kids to help us as adults find something to laugh at to to keep a smile on our faces
