UPDATE2: Here is the latest update from Kat on the Troop Christmas Card drive. If you haven’t sent a card, please consider it if you’re able. Read below the cut line for more information.

Today, I received 440 cards in the mail for operation love from home! :) Yay! The grand total now is 2,014…. only about 18,000 shy of the 20K goal! We’ve got about one month left, so keep ‘em comin’!!!! Thanks everyone!!!

Okay, not sure what happened that this post did not update like I saved it, but here is the real update from Kat:

Hello, y’all! here I am, with this week’s update on Operation Love From Home! Yesterday, I had a booth at a local festival to collect signed holiday cards for the troops. It was wildly successful! Last year at the same festival, I was able to get 300 cards. THIS year, however, my friends & I walked away with 1,111 signed cards!!!! How awesome is that?! So far, the grand total is 1,574 cards collected. Awesome! It’s still a long way from the 20,000-card goal, so keep those cards comin’ in! :-)

For more information on this campaign, read below the cut line.

From our good friend Kat:

OK, folks, it’s officially official — Operation Love from Home begins now! Last year, thanks to all your hard work and commitment, 20,000 cards were collected and shipped to Iraq & Afghanistan!!! How awesome is that?! LET’S DO IT AGAIN THIS YEAR — I KNOW WE CAN!!! :) All the information is below, and I’ve attached a pretty, printable flyer. This is a great project for scout troops, businesses and other organizations to get involved in tangibly showing support for our troops. The troops can’t see the yellow ribbon magnets on our cars…but they CAN hold a letter or card in their hand and KNOW someone back home REALLY CARES! :) Please forward this email to anyone and everyone you think may be interested in participating, post the info on message boards, and see what you can do to get others involved. Not one of us can achieve this on our own…it will take us all working together to make it happen.

Hang on – we’re in for a wild ride. :) This is going to be GREAT! :)

To find out how to help by sending a simple Christmas card, please download the flyer.

During this holiday season, let’s show our troops we love and support them!!!! From OCTOBER 1 to NOVEMBER 24, Kat will be collecting holiday cards for troops stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan. Being away from home and living in harsh conditions during the holiday season is especially difficult ~ they need to know we have not forgotten them!!! Mail from home helps to keep our troops’ morale strong, making a very real difference in their lives.

Kat adds:

OK, here’s the challenge — I’d like to match last year’s total of 20,000 Christmas cards!!

C’mon y’all… I know we can do this! :-)

HOOAH! :)

PLEASE HELP SPREAD THE WORD!!
