Having just got back from yet ANOTHER trip in which I stayed at multiple hotels, THIS scares me. Thankfully, I’ve never trusted hosted glasses and only use the wrapped plastic ones.

  1. Ewwwwwwwwwwwww! Yuck! etc. etc. I, too, NEVER use the glasses – only the wrapped disposable ones but….still…that was AWFUL to watch. My skin is crawling.

  2. I saw this a few weeks ago and it really grossed me out. I resolved to carry my own cups when we travel, just in case.

  3. Not cleaning the hotel rooms and hotel room glassware that American citizens won’t do…

  4. Don’t these people that run the hotels care about germs anymore or is it just all about the money and not giving the best service! Maybe they never did care and now we are finding them out! Yuck!

  5. Personally, i stopped trusting hotels after watching an expose on the beds…..

  6. I can’t say I’m not surprised…given what I witnessed in our room when I was in my late teens.

The maid wiped the toilet seat, rim, etc. with a rag and water. Then she took the very same rag, and wiped down the bathroom sink and counter. After that, she wiped down the kitchen sink and counter….same rag, with not so much as a rinse! I’ve seen similar things happen at other hotels.

That first experience was enough to make me take Clorox Cleanup and alcahol with me on every trip, and clean every surface and dish in my room first thing! I don’t even trust those ‘sanitized toilet’ bands, as I’ve seen some pretty nasty things there too! The only room service I want is for them to replenish/replace, empty trash, and sweep floors. And don’t even touch my bed (which gets fresh linens the first night), thank you very much! :)
