I served under a very talented 1SG named Turner. He used to tell us that getting SGT's stripes was the easiest thing in the world. The hardest thing was keeping them. My hat is off to you and to all senior military NonCom's that gave us some direction or kick in the pants when needed, including the occasional pat on the back. Another kudo to SFC who will be nameless. In the middle of night operations drill, enforced blackout practice he was back at HQ. In the middle of the exercise, he drives his bright red SUV, full lights and the horn blowing in the middle of the encampment. He jumped out and identified one of my buddys (6 1/2 ft, 230 lbs) and literally threw him into the back of his POV and tore out of there with the rest of us looking dumbfounded. He later radioed back that they guy's wife had gone into early labor and was at the hospital. The baby survived and 30 guys wearing face-paint got a lesson in priority and people management.
