IVAW decended upon the nation’s capitol today spewing lies about our troops in Iraq (see previous post on the topic). These guys are the protoges of the anti-war movement that John Kerry was was not a part of. As I said earlier, IVAW is going to slander American Soldiers and Marines who are working hard to bring peace and stability to a region that has been plagued with war and corruption for centuries.

But what IVAW won’t protest – and what the media won’t make an issue of – is this:

U.S. authorities in Baghdad have received five severed fingers belonging to four Americans and an Austrian who were taken hostage more than a year ago in Iraq , U.S. officials said Wednesday.

As a good friend said in relation to this article, “Where is the outrage on the mass media?? Have you heard this?? I sure havent!! Why do they not scream and stomp their feet about this?? Hypocrits!!” And will the “veterans” of IVAW denounce the terrorists they’re supporting in Congress as I type this? I doubt it.

The Thunder Run has a post up they (and you as well) should read before spouting off on the record in the halls of congress.

  1. CJ,
Who are these guys, disgruntled ex-soldiers or are they so against the military that they spout out these lies. I guess they are trying to bring our country down. I don’t understand why people do things like this. What a shame that any citizen of this country would do such a thing! Then again, I don’t understand the Berkleyites or Code Pink!

That is just horrible about the severed fingers and the guys that are being held captive. My prayers are with them that they soon will be released and no more harm will come to them. That shows what kind of thugs the terrorists are. Sounds like the mob! Blood thirsty bunch!!

  2. Donna, I think it’s a mixture of both. I’m not going to sit here and say that there aren’t Soldier that ARE torturing, murdering, or committing other atrocities because there are unfortunately. But, as a military, we find, charge, and punish these individuals as expeditiously as possible. They don’t belong in the military because they go against our core values and principles – to save innocent lives.

The problem with IVAW and Winter Soldier is that they want you, the American people, to think that it is a military mindset to kill innocent people and animals. That we indiscriminately rape, torture, and harass our female Soldiers. It just isn’t true, but they aren’t saying that. They are testifying to Congress and the American public that these actions are systemic in the military and it’s just not true.

They hate this country regardless of what they say publicly. If they didn’t, they wouldn’t try so hard to tear it down. I’m ashamed that they’re even called veterans.

  3. What lies have the IVAW spewed about our troops in Iraq?

  4. JD, give me a break. They lie about the systematic existence of torture and murder within the military. They label all Soldiers as war criminals instead of just highlighting the few “bad apples”. When we call them bad apples, they stand up on the table and rant about the untruth of it. IVAW takes a few anecdotal examples and turns into a sweeping accusation of the military as a whole.

They’ve lied at protests at recruiting stations, misleading (lying) to the public about our benefits. Ever notice that all the people in IVAW are no higher than a SSG? I wonder why that is… Perhaps their lack of wisdom can be attributed to their lack of experience as leaders, Soldiers, and warriors. They were probably terrible Soldiers and NCOs while they were in as well. Why aren’t there any CSMs, SGMs, 1SGs, MSGs, etc protesting all over the place with IVAW? Because they are liars and we know better.

  5. I must respectfully disagree with your generalizations about IVAW and their members. IVAW is an organization that is attempting to show the American people Bush’s failed foreign policy in Iraq by highlighting the first-hand experiences of its members. The public generally lacks an understanding of the workings and purpose of our military forces. No one has labeled all Soldiers as war criminals. It is interesting how some folks view exposing truth as lying.

  6. JD, I respectfully disagree as well. Winter Soldier is not first hand accounts. Just read their own words. They are going to testify about what they heard or someone told them. IVAW’s members have labeled Soldiers as war criminals. A simple read of their Winter Soldier agenda will tell anyone looking that they’re purpose is to accuse Soldiers of “killing and injuring of innocent civilians and unarmed combatants, as well as the destruction of the property, infrastructure and natural resources of Iraq and Afghanistan” without mentioning that such actions are isolated.

Additionally, they will speak about the “institutional policies of discrimination in the military” which don’t exist. The military has given minorities and women more options than any other industry in history. These “first hand experiences” they will bring us are anecdotal. They’re going to parade around a bunch of junior enlisted veterans with no real experience in the military and claim they have all the answers and the public should listen to them. Do you really want the public that “lacks an understanding of the workings and purpose of our military forces” to get their answers from jaded kids who spent on average 4 years or less in the military? What can they possibly know about our “workings and purpose”?

  7. Thanks CJ for the explanation above. I respectfully agree with you! :)
