Good points CJ. The charts that General Petraeous has presented are awesome! Check out the one on page 10 "Provincial Iraqi Control". WOW. He is showing all 18 provinces being turned over to Iraqi control by Jan 09 (with the possible exception of Ta'mim which is projected to be ready, just no date has been set for the actual turn over).

Oh, but there has been no progress ... DUH!

By the way, seems like our troop surge may have helped convince Al Sadr that he had to declare call a truce or be wiped out. Looks like he is even trying to find a way to save face, by asking for the religious leaders to 'tell' him to lay down his arms ...

Have a good trip CJ ! I do hope the congressmen and women will listen to General Petraeus and realize that he is telling them the truth about Iraq and give him the respect due him as a commander.

CJ:

First, good to see that you are quoting from the Associated Press, presumably a standout member of the MSM that so many of your readers hold in utter contempt beyond sheer hatred!

Second, I add to your quote a further statement found in the AP article:

"The report does not take into account the recent battle in Basra, the unruly Shiite port city in the south, according to another congressional official."

Several other statements in the article suggest that the new NIE report differs very little from the last report, so I find it rather difficult to understand how you arrive at your conclusion regarding the Dems' view of progress or lack thereof in Iraq.

Have a safe trip to DC!

Hey CJ, I found this article by the IHT. It shows the troops as de-moralised "victims" and not heroes, just like the guys you posted about. http://www.iht.com/articles/2008/04/07/america/06military.php

Oh, I wish I could be there. You'll be carrying the spirits of a lot of people with you, CJ. Please say 'thanks' from us to all AD and Vets you meet.

Isn't it strange (NOT) how there's been no publicity regarding the new report?
