Let me send a great big 'at-a-boy' to David and Ryan. These two actually seemed to be having an adult conversation. Gosh, someone might actually learn something, if we all did that!

I agree, it shouldn't be a political football of any sort. Just a cheap shot. I'm not versed enough to comment on the other events you mention, but will read more on the subject. I don't think Black Water is a subsidiary, independant or otherwise of Haliburton. From what I understand, its a privately owned outfit that must do a great job in the government contract business.
Anyway, thanks for the commentary.

David,

I am not denying that oil is an important political factor, it is. However, I just disagree with the way people use this fact as a means to attempt at scoring political one upsmanship.

As for the case of Halliburton pumping oil in Iraq, I haven't heard that one before. I will look more into that. I was told that none of Iraq's oil reserves have been tapped into, yet. However, I do not see Halliburton being the ones doing the tapping when the first barrels get pumped. As they have left their operations in Iraq. Although Black Water and Kellog Brown and Root are still there, but they are only subsidiaries of Halliburton. They are not a part of the company, they are independent and I am sure they hold their own stock as proof of their seperation from Halliburton.

However, I do see China, India, and Russia tapping into Iraq's oil reserves first before everyone else. After all, they are the ones with the highest increase in oil consumption in the world today(I am not saying this is a bad thing), and are owners of Iraq's oil reserve contracts. Some of their contracts with Persian Gulf countries are already going to work, as some the oil they consume is being pumped off the coast of Iraq.

However, I am not too sure if Iraq is the owner of that oil rig. It may belong to another Persian Gulf country. It may belong to Azerbaijan, unless they don't export oil, or it could belong to Bahrain. Maybe Kuwait or Iran. If you know anything on this, tell me.

Morton said; "Like it or not, he is laughing as this war bleeds the foolish US government at $350 million a day."

Like it or not, that amount ultimately leads to less than one percent of our G.D.P.(Gross Domestc Product)/Purchasing Power Parity.

At the same time, Osama didn't seem like he was laughing when we intercepted those letters that were circulating throughout his inner circle and his operatives on the ground. He seemed pretty pissed. They all said that the Jihad in Iraq has been a failure.

Which is funny, because that's the opposite of what our government is telling us. So much for your stupid "you actually believe what your government says" comment.

Ryan,
You raise some very interesting points and I intend on reading up on judicialwatch. I still can't get far away from the fact that there was a strategic oil related reason for our involvement in Iraq. No, I don't think it was a pure you-grab-the-oil-and-I'll-grab-the-gas routine. The case has been made that Halliburton was pumping it after the bombing stopped, but let's face it. Not too many companies have the ability to go in and resurrect a burning oil well. It as all others, to my understanding, have been turned back over to the Iraqi Oil Ministry. During the first Gulf War, the Saudi's paid to have our ships filled up at their ports. Now, they happily supply the fuel at market rate. I'll also mention an interview with Conde Rice while she was National Security Advisor. When asked her biggest thing she learned on assuming her role was how much oil controlled politics. It's been documented that over 200,000 people died in Central Africa due to ethnic cleansing from 2001 to 2003. No mention because it didn't affect our oil supply.
Just my two cents...

Actually Morton, nobody has ever called himself or herself a hero on this blog. I think that's the only basis for your stupid responses on this blog's threads. After all, there is no better way to stifle the debate of the dissent by trying to make it seem as though they were being arrogant. Despite the fact that your percieved arrogance simply doesn't exist, and is just merely a figment of your imagination(and stupidity).

Again, you post another comment that is just oozing of ignorance. First off, the United States is not seeking control of oil fields or revenues in Iraq. It doesn't take a genius to simply go online to judicial watch's website to see who owns the oil fields in Iraq and ultimately the revenues. They have maps as well as a list of countries who own the contracts to the oil fields in Iraq. It just makes me sick that you don't have the balls to go do the research yourself before making an asinine comment. Then again, I understand, you must have an intense fear of finding out that you're wrong. Which you are!

In the event you become sane and decide that the lies you subscribe to, which ultimately own you as well, are not worth looking like a idiot for, then you'll see when you actually search Judicial Watch's oil maps and list of contract holders that not one of the oil fields in Iraq are under any; contract, or ownership by any U.S. business firm. In fact, all of them belong to the countries that oppose our presence there. Isn't that just paradoxically strange? The people who keep saying that we are in Iraq for oil as a means to justify their stance against us, are actually the ones who own Iraq's oil fields as well as want us out. Who can blame them though?

Since, if we were to leave Iraq, the increase of violence that would add to the already tragic sectarian war in that country would help boost another increase to the price of oil. Thus, increasing the profit of those countries who "DO" own the contracts to Iraq's oil fields. So much for the "were stealing Iraq's oil" mantra. That fallacy can finally take it's place with all the other disproven myths that anti-military Americans(conservatative and liberal) buy into, as one of the stupidest arguments to ever take place in a political debate.

Anyway, here is the web URL to the lists with foreign suitors who have ownership of oil reserves in Iraq that I have been talking about.

Good for you, CJ! After all, this is your place and you are still free to run your site the way you want. I have found those who are so narrow-minded and disrespectful of others whine the most when they feel their rights have "abused".
I dislike whining.

CJ, why is there two %u2026's on my post. I didn't type those. All I did was post Morton's comment by copy and pasting before replying to them. Anyway, can you remove them, they're kind of distracting.

Opps, I don't recall being called a Liberal Stalker, but whatever. Regardless of everone's political bent, CJ manages to keep us all on an even keel. I really don't have time for useless rhetoric, on either side. It doesn't solve anything and I don't learn anything by it.
On the positive side, by Tuesday, I'll have five books stores in lower Manhatten reading the blurb on Micheal Yon's book. The PDF is on his website. I challenge everyone to do the same.
