While doing site maintenance, I went to check the blog of an old friend who’s been with ASP since nearly the beginning - Old Ranter, known to friends as Logan. This is the latest post on the site:

Oh my dearest friends,

This is perhaps the most difficult post I have ever made. My dearest, dearest, most dearest friend and comrade Old Ranter passed away today 3.18.08 at approximately 5am.

Last year, I almost had a chance to meet Logan when I was in Tucson, AZ. Unfortunately, he was having severe eye problems resulting from surgery. He was basically legally blind, using a huge magnifying glass just to talk to me through email. His Retina was swollen from the surgery and pressing on his optic nerve. Everything was a big blur. I decided we could wait to meet another day.

I know I’m late with this, but Logan was a good friend of ASP, an American patriot, and a Marine veteran! Oorah! I suddenly feel empty and wish I had been a better friend to notice sooner. He served his nation with pride, honor and integrity. I miss our email conversations, though I hadn’t talked to him since December. My prayers are with this family and friends. God bless him. He’s guarding the Pearly Gates now!!
