My husband was one of the 75 Honored on Monday. He died at age 51 from Lung and Brain Cancer, caused by Agent Orange.

He was a brave soldier, he received 2 Bronze Stars, Air Medal and many more medals during his tour of duty.

Unlike the 58,000 others that were KIA in Vietnam, he got a 30 year bonus,to come home, marry, have a family and enjoy the American Dream he fought and ultimately died for, even if just for a short time.

HE DIED A PROUD SOLDIER AND A PROUD AMERICAN.

The reason why China and the others are buying our bonds (ie loaning us money) is that they know a good deal when they see one and they know they get paid back. They have more faith in our economy then theirs. As far as your other point, there are a lot of people making money on this war. Morton thinks himself an original for having made this "discovery". Its like not liking the farm because of the manure pile. Speaking of which, Morton. You are welcome to leave anytime. This is the only country that would let you put out your hot air and you know it. That's why you are still there.
And you are most welcome!!

As I have said before, since you love them so much why not live there?

The US did not owe us anything but yet they were willing to help, that is more than YOU can hope to amount to right?

Even if the debt is high, YOU are enjoying a good life of freedom. Why not live in some other country then, since you think the debt is much lower?

Morton,
Do you even have the most basic understanding of geography and/or history? Why not read up a little on what happened? My country was way too weak at the time to fight the commies alone. We tried and won, but it was due to the US troops effort that they commies did not take over. Have you even considered that the many Vietnamese killed were due to mass murders by the commies?

I know the price of my freedom, and I dare say you should too. Seems you only care about your own freedom and not others, telling me that you don't care if I was saved from the commies. Why not go to a commie country and live, since you love them a so huggy-muggy much?

Not many people have heard of my country, it is a small island south of Malaya. We had to fight commies since the 60s and as we are also in South East Asia, should the commies not have been stopped at Nam, it would have been quite easy for them to sweep through the rest of the region.

Thank you CJ. I really appreciate you.

David, "Our country isn't always right in what it does, but always good in what it intends to do." Thank you for expressing that sentiment. That is all I have ever been saying. We 'americans' aren't perfect, but we want to be. We 'americans' aren't demons, and do everything in our power not to be ...

The military historian in me wants to ask Isaac what country he is from so I can understand the comments and appreciate them.

The American in me wants to thank all the vets for their service to our country. Our country isn't always right in what it does, but always good in what it intends to do.
Rock Steady.

I have said this many times but for the new folks, if not for the US in Vietnam, my country would be under communist rule. I am ever grateful for that (Morton, I hope you are reading this). Thank you, all vets.
