This was submitted as a comment by Crystal W to my latest Kid’s Perspective post, but I thought it deserved front page status:

I have a brother and a sister in the military – both military police just different branch: Army and AirForce. I have two sons 4 and 5. One day while standing in line at Chick-Fil-A my youngest son turn[ed] to me and says something I can’t hear [so] I lean down to hear him more clearly and what he said filled me with so much pride. My son tells me, “look mommy Captain American.” I look around trying to find this man in the costume or in a Captain America T-shirt and all I found is a soldier. When I ask him where he saw Captain America he say’s “there mommy” and points again. I turn and look again and my son is pointing to the soldier in his uniform. I felt so much pride in him because in his own way he got what I told him about soldiers sacrificing their lives for us and that they are heroes. Makes you wonder how a four year old child can see a hero but some adult’s can’t. God Bless Our Soldiers. Thank you for all you have done and will do in the future.

  1. That is really a sweet story. Reminds me of a little boy I overheard at a baseball game earlier this season (Memorial Day, maybe?). There were soldiers in uniform at the game, and one little boy says to his dad in an excited voice “Look, Daddy! A Soldier!”.

  2. And God Bless the parents who instill in their children that our members of the Armed Forces are heroes and role models.

    Great story CJ.

  3. Thanks for sharing :) Kids say things that reflect on their parents…Good Job Mom!

  4. I’d hate to be there when the woman has to tell her kids Captain America is dead. It seems that while leading a resistance movement against the government he is captured. On his way to court he was shot and killed by a sniper.

Captain America loved his country but feared his government.

  5. I THANK God for parents like Crystal and HOPE TO God that people like Steve have never procreated.
