		<description>I can assure the chief thatthe Barb was scrapped. Even Fluckey did not know of it until after the fact.  He wished at the time that he had known and would have tried to buy the boat and bring it back.As a footnote, let me add that I am the sole survivor of the eight member saboteur party. today, of the 143 men who served on Barb under Fluckey, 19 remain--4 officers and 19 enlisted.</description>

		<description>Admiral Fluckey bought back the Barb from the Italians and him and part of his former crew flew over and sailed her back Conn.  Can anyone please tell me about this.</description>

		<description>It is a damn shame that such a marvelous piece of American history was lost to the American people, first by being given away, and then by being sold for scrap.  I wish someone had made an effort to save this ship, restore it and put it on display.  Like the WWII warriors we lose every day to the passing of time, the loss of the physical reminders of WWII is a loss to our entire nation.</description>
