STOP!! Thank you all so much for your generosity! I’ve already met the goal plus some to send all this coffee. Whew! I am overcome with the kind of patriotism that permeates from the readers of this site. I can’t thank you enough.

No, not the Army Reserves, but my cash reserves. I really try hard not to beg for money on this site unless I need to. I realize how much you all have done in the past and hesitate to squeeze for more. In the past few months, I’ve added personal and ASP funds to the money you sent to send kids to D&C camp, sent four huge boxes full of Girl Scout cookies to Soldiers in Afghanistan and Iraq, and purchased a few ASP t-shirts for a few individuals who have done a LOT to help us with our projects. This has tapped me out and I need your help again.

Today, the employees at one of the local Starbucks Coffee shops on Airport Rd donated over 100 pounds of coffee to me to send to troops. I don’t even have room on my conference table for anything else now, but my office smells nice! I have addresses and plenty of troops to send it to, but I can’t afford the postage right now. I have exactly $1.86 left in our account (yes, that’s after our most recent $40 donation – thank you;)). For those that are new, virtually every dollar collected through this site is put back into Soldier support projects. The only money we keep is used to pay for registration and hosting.

In addition to postage, I could use some money to purchase three coffee grinders. Almost all of the bags are whole beans. Since I don’t drink coffee, I have no idea what a good grinder looks like or costs, but Wal-Mart seems to have a bunch for about $20. So, here’s what I need: approximately $175 for postage and about $75 for the grinders.

So, could you please tap your resources, friends, family, neighbors, and anyone looking for a way to support the troops and ask them to donate through the Paypal tab in the upper right hand corner. They can use credit cards, debit cards, and Paypal accounts to donate. Also, if you get the chance, please send a card or letter of thanks to the employees at Starbucks Store #9543:

Starbucks Coffee
800A Airport Rd SW
Huntsville, AL 35803
(256) 881-1240‎

You can also call them, but they are a busy store and I think they’d much more appreciate a personal letter or card. I wrote and mailed them an official thank you on my Company letterhead already. Maybe they’ll post the letters in the restaurant which will encourage more support. If so, I’ll go by there on a regular basis and take pictures for everyone.

  1. CJ, cashola on the way to help. Good for “your” Starbucks. I’ve got three stores here in the Memphis area that are in the middle of a drive right now, too. Already have over 200 bags. Yippee!!! Are anticipating another 200.

Anyway…if you are going to be sending any of your bags over to Afghanistan you might want to ask your store to grind them for you then slip them in ziptop bags. A lot of the troops in the northeastern part of Afghanistan are really asking for coffee and have only 2 hours or so a day generator power. Just an idea to consider.

What a WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL blessing that got dropped in your lap.

  2. Starbucks will not only donate coffee–ask about a grinder too. I am a store manager and an honorably discharged Army girl. Email me for info and let me know how we can help!
