I have worked for years to get congressmen to look into the likely need for more funding for the Commander's Emergency Response Program. I've had very little luck. I have had very little luck getting other private citizens help me lobby for such funds. It's nice for citizens to contribute to the needs of the troops. That doesn't relieve congress of its need to fund the troops. Rightvoices uses them. A funny by-product is that Google (and others) use the content of the page to attempt to feed relevant ads. On Rightvoices.com, you see a post of someone bashing Obama (an atrocity in my mind) and then one of his campaign ads flows through right near it. Non-profit status may entail a lot of overhead in terms of record keeping to make it worthwhile. I've held off on doing that for my computer project.
