Taking Chance on HBO 21 February at 8 PM. No other explanation is needed beyond the trailer and linked story above.

God bless you Phelps family.

  1. I remember reading the piece in the Rocky Mountain News. I cried my eyes out getting through it. I’ll have to watch Taking Chance with a box of tissues, but I’ll not miss it… Thanks for posting about it, Marcus.

  2. Thank you. Remarkable. Will have to find a friend who has HBO or wait to buy the video. No tears could equal the blood shed on behalf of our freedom and safety.
    Grateful.

  3. I’ve realized I’ve confused my CAO stories. The one in the RMN was Final Salute. But, I knew “Taking Chance” sounded familiar – it was from Blackfive

    • I just read ‘FINAL SALUTE” the pages are tear stained. I am hoping I will be able to sit and watch this. I was amazed at the CAO’s in the book and of the one in this movie trailer. There are CAO’s who have had no compassion and have little to do with the families they are assigned, this is sad. SSG Barry Leveretter was wonderful to me, but was transferred to Japan too soon. That is the last job I would want to have. The Army not only sends 2 fine soldiers to your door but 2 days later assigns another for your CAO. or least that was the case here.
