You know of those billions (trillions?) of dollars that our government is investing wasting in America? The ones that are supposedly going to create over 3 million jobs according to the Obama administration?

While our government is wasting billions of dollars to pay off failed auto, banking, and insurance businesses, we are being denied the funds to send our Soldiers to needed leadership training. We’re having to use operational budgets to pay for schools and professional training. Am I the one who sees serious flaws in this logic?

  1. CJ, you are making it very difficult for me to keep my sense of decorum. Signs of things to come: Change we can believe in!! Arrgghhh!

  3. This irks the heck out of me. I had this bad feeling all along, but was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. I agree with yankeemom, it’s becoming increasingly more difficult to keep my sense of decorum.

  4. We can’t blame the new admin for this. We have a long and varnished history of treating the military poorly.

Now of course the right way to have done this would have been to give grants to universities to provide the training to the military at say, the rate of $1 for every $8 they get from the government.

This enables another bloated educational bureaucracy to function while getting some training to the folks in the field.

And most importantly allows some isolated Ivory Tower liberal to pontificate on how he is doing his best to help the military while lining his own pocket. And our duly elected officials get to brag about how they brought federal money home to the district.

    See, problem solved!

  5. CJ…

I’m sending you a private email on how this whole mess is affecting us at PDN. We’ve now lost an asset we can’t replace. Emergency help we’ve been able to facilitate via talk radio for some military families has been silenced. Yet another casualty of the financial war here at home.

I was crunching some numbers after reading this item and watching the video. What’s a trillion dollars?

$1,000,000,000,000 divided by 154,400,000 wage earners in America = $6,476.68

$1,000,000,000,000 divided by total US population of 303,824,640 = $3,291.37

Then I got lazy and Googled. Excellent item can be found at: How to Understand a Trillion-Dollar Deficit, By Barbara Kiviat Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009 http://www.time.com/time/business/article/0,8599,1870699,00.html

From another source and to put it in military terms: “It would take a military jet flying at the speed of sound, reeling out a roll of dollar bills behind it, 14 years before it reeled out one trillion dollar bills.”

It’s mighty hard to see my glass half full when greedy politicians, banks and corporate crooks are boring holes in its bottom.

Now that’s what I call real torture… for every man, woman and clild in our nation.

Please accept my apologies if my post above was overly flippant.

    My first paragraph was sincere.

Our “betters” screw over the military and the veteran and have been doing it for along time.

The rest was my lame attempt at trying to find some humor at the expense of two groups that I have no respect for.
