A SOLDIER'S PERSPECTIVE
THE WEB'S LEADING MILITARY BLOG SINCE 2004
In 2006, failed Presidential candidate John Kerry (if they can say the same about McCain, I can call Kerry on it) said, “The violence in Iraq today…is between Shia and Sunni; this is a civil war.” He continued, “don’t talk, as John McCain does, about putting more troops in” because it isn’t going to work. He called it a “fantasy”. Harry Reid didn’t parse words at all in his declaration of defeat: “this war is lost and the surge is not accomplishing anything as indicated by the extreme violence in Iraq.” The Democrats were all over the network news and Sunday shows declaring that we can’t resolve the “civil war” occuring in Iraq along sectarian lines.
With all this talk of defeat and devolution into sectarian hell, some strange things happened. The war was won and sectarian violence didn’t destroy the country.
The Donovan has a great post up today from Bill, a pilot instructor at the Iraqi Air Force’s Flight School. They recently graduated Class 67 and it shows what REAL hope and change looks like. Here’s the teaser photo, but you’ll have to check out the whole post for the story.

In no particular order, there’s a Sunni from Diyala, a Shi’a from Basra, a Chaldean Kurd, and a Roamin’ Catholic Crusader myrmidon in the pic.
