Maybe it is time for a quick "shock and awe" and then to pull our troops back out of Afghanistan. Sounds reasonable. We were already involved in supplying the British and taking hits from the Germans off our shores as far back as '39. The Pacific war was started, courtesy of the Japanese, although not unexpected. Bob is right, Afghanistan was de-focused and the effort put into Iraq. Our goals for Afghanistan can only be to find OBL and knock out the training camps. We can't expect to have the same outcome as Iraq. They hadn't had a regular government in over a decade and have nowhere the resources that Iraq has, except for the opium exports.
