As I wrote about earlier, President Barack Obama met with the Pittsburgh Steelers this past Thursday. HotAir.com picked up on an NBC story about a group of Kindergartners who were late for a White House tour and didn’t get it. NBC and HotAir make it appear as if Obama cares more about a bunch of millionaires that poor, little, tardy children whose teachers don’t understand punctuality.

What HotAir (a conservative website) and NBC (along with most media) got wrong about this whole situation is that Obama was also meeting with Wounded Warriors at the same time. The WW were brought in from Walter Reed and Bethesda Medical Centers to meet the Super Bowl champions and get autographs as special guests of the President.

But, did the press ever once bring up this fact? Not at all. Instead, they chose to make it appear as if Obama was choosing a football team over a group of kindergartners. Odd, considering that this is the same media that usually covers his butt, but chose to leave out pertinent bits of information in this case.

More importantly, the media didn’t cover the purpose for the Steelers’ presence at the White House. These “millionaires,” that the media and the ignorant kindergarten teachers who brought their kids to the White House late complained about, were there for a very noble and selfless cause. I’ll let the President tell you why they were, quotes you won’t find in the press:

I often say that the beauty of serving others is that anyone can do it. You don’t have to be President, and you don’t have to be a pro football player. All you need to do is to have a desire to make a difference, to give back to your community and to contribute to your nation. And that’s what we’re going to do right here. We’re going to work with the USO to put together 3,000 care packages for our troops serving in harm’s way.

We’re going to give back to those who’ve given so much for us. And I find that fitting and proper, a good way to kick off a weekend that serves to honor all the men and women who have worn the proud uniform of this country that we love.

Now, to those who think that Obama can do nothing right in my eyes, I won’t tell you where to shove it. Those who think you can get away with initiating complaints against me for things I disagree with can also go to a special place. Maybe one of my conservative readers can now complain to the Pentagon that I support Obama on something. Obama did a good thing yesterday and is taking some unfair heat over it. I call it like I see it and when the senior elected executive in this country does something right or wrong, I’ll tell you about it. And he didn’t do anything wrong here!

Time will tell, as it always does, but I think folks are generally going to come around to Obama.

    • The only way more people are going to come around to Obama is if he reverses his extreme, leftwing liberal agenda and I don’t see that happening. He doesn’t know how to accept responsibility for anything. Four months into his presidency, he’s still blaming Bush for the economy when he’s done nothing but make it worse. I think people will start trusting Nancy Pelosiraptor before they come around to Obama.

      • On the contrary, McCain lost because HE himself wasn’t right enough. He would have done MUCH worse without Palin.

He’s blaming Bush for the economy because Bush destroyed the economy. QED!

    • And how has Obama helped the economy with the trillions of dollars he’s spent?

      • You mean the trillions he is spending, not spent. And the trillions of dollars that will end up in the hands of veterans and others through construction projects and education and other ends to get the economy running again. Kinda like giving our soldiers bullets to shoot!

  4. Classic CJ… call them as you seem them, right or wrong.
I will remark that Obama seems to be upsetting those from both sides which says he is shooting right down the middle. I still don’t see where his policies get called Leftist or Socialist. When GHW Bush moved in during the S & L crises and had the Feds assume control over many institutions, I don’t recall him being labeled a Socialist. Reagan goes down in my book as an extraordinary leader, but he wasn’t the consummate conservative as he expanded government significantly (much in DOD).

CF – When you spend money you don’t have, no matter who gets it in the end, it will be bad for our country.

We did not have the trillions the war in Iraq will ultimately cost, yet we spent it anyway. Regardless, the question remains: “Can we afford not to spend the trillions in stimulus that is now being spent?” Arguments cut both ways, just as they did with the decision to invade Iraq. I guess it all depends on whose ox is being gored at the particular time.

  5. It would seem that there are similar comparisons. We spent a great deal of money that we didn’t have after 9/11 fighting an enemy that availed itself.
This time we spent (are spending) a great deal of money we don’t have because we learned a phrase called “too big to fail…”. Call it another enemy, if you will. Both will strangle our economy and country.

  6. Outrageous spending, government expansion and raising taxes are not the way to eliminate the problems. Obama needs a reality check.

    • Sue:

I don’t recall hearing your similar complaints when Bush was doing the same thing. What’s with the double standard?

  7. That’s a good point CF. Why the double standard? I don’t hear you criticizing Obama for the same things you criticized Bush! What gives o’ ye hypocrite?!

  8. GB may have started the economic snowball, but Obummer is rolling it down the hill. Still, it’s good to see fact-checking at work and the correction’s being made.
