It would seem that there are similar comparisons. We spent a great deal of money that we didn’t have after 9/11 fighting an enemy that availed itself.
This time we spent (are spending) a great deal of money we don’t have because we learned a phrase called “too big to fail…”. Call it another enemy, if you will. Both will strangle our economy and country.

We did not have the trillions the war in Iraq will ultimately cost, yet we spent it anyway. Regardless, the question remains: “Can we afford not to spend the trillions in stimulus that is now being spent?” Arguments cut both ways, just as they did with the decision to invade Iraq. I guess it all depends on whose ox is being gored at the particular time.

Classic CJ… call them as you seem them, right or wrong.
I will remark that Obama seems to be upsetting those from both sides which says he is shooting right down the middle. I still don’t see where his policies get called Leftist or Socialist. When GHW Bush moved in during the S & L crises and had the Feds assume control over many institutions, I don’t recall him being labeled a Socialist. Reagan goes down in my book as an extraordinary leader, but he wasn’t the consummate conservative as he expanded government significantly (much in DOD).

CF – When you spend money you don’t have, no matter who gets it in the end, it will be bad for our country.

You mean the trillions he is spending, not spent. And the trillions of dollars that will end up in the hands of veterans and others through construction projects and education and other ends to get the economy running again. Kinda like giving our soldiers bullets to shoot!
