A SOLDIER'S PERSPECTIVE
THE WEB'S LEADING MILITARY BLOG SINCE 2004
It is always great to see good people, military heroes, get honorable treatment respectful of their service.ÂÂ
“This week the Air ComÂÂmand and Staff College at Maxwell Air Force Base honored a group of ordinary people who accomplished extraordinary things. Each year Maxwell honÂÂors such individuals with its week-long Gathering of EaÂÂgles, where honorees share their experiences, meet with the students and local veterÂÂans and attend the ACSC graduation.”
Two heroes were honored at the celebration this year: Chief Master Sergeant Wayne Fisk and Elizabeth “Betty Wall” Strohfus.
“CMSgt Wayne Fisk was directly involved in the famed Son Tay POW camp raid and the rescue of the crew of the SS Mayagüez.”
“Known as Betty Wall during her Army Air Force Days, Elizabeth Wall Strohfus was one of just over 1,000 American women who flew military aircraft during World War II.”
