None at all. The uprising was a planned uprising. Most of the prisoners at Mazar e Sharif had surrendered and smuggled weapons in under their robes and clothing. Whether or not Mike Spann threatened a prisoner is irrelevant and a distraction.

The uprising at this prison is one of the reasons we can’t violate our search and segregation procedures for the sake of political correctness. People die and money is wasted.

CJ, This British media account claims Mike Spann threatened to kill a prisoner:

I find that reasoning suspicious as the actual cause (if there's any validity to the claim at all) of the "uprising". Do you know anything more on this? The only other account I've read on this is "Inside Gitmo".
