This is from Day 1 in the building of a new home for Wounded Warrior SGT Mike Minard. There are so many people doing such great things with their own time and their own money for our troops.

And so it began, on a steamy August day – It all started under a beautiful blue sky:

A foundation – on a cleared lot – waiting to be shaped into something more, something that will last a lifetime. And on this hot summer morning, they came. Some came in uniform, some came with tool belts and hard hats

and some with a smile after weeks of preparation…but all came with their hearts and a desire to an empty lot into a home.

And it became this:

Much more to come :)

Today, the Real America went to work – powered by wonderful meals from The Windmill owner Steve Levine and his family, hard work and sweat supplied by Carpenter’s Union 2250, the fantastic crew from Homes For Our Troops and volunteers of every description from Eagles UP, ARMS, Fort Monmouth, The Salvation Army and more.

Want to see what happens next? Just follow us for day 2 tomorrow!
