A SOLDIER'S PERSPECTIVE
THE WEB'S LEADING MILITARY BLOG SINCE 2004
Ladies and Gentlemen,
It almost feels like milbloggers are under attack by nature, health, or the enemy lately. Unfortunately, I have another terrible story to tell you about.
Some of you may have read “Devil Dog’s War” by Josh Wright. Josh and I have communicated and worked together for a little over a year now coordinating care packages for Marines in Iraq and Afghanistan. He has gone through great lengths ensuring that “his guys” are taken care of. I’ve gotten email after email about the great things that Josh has done to support deployed troops. He has truly made a difference in the lives of literally hundreds of Marines and Soldiers.
For the past 16 years (since he was 5), Josh has battled Hepatitis C. He never told anyone about it because he didn’t want people worrying about him. He never even told ME about it! He wanted people to focus on those troops he supported and not his problems. Earlier this week, I got the following email from his sister:
Saturday night Josh experienced a severe brain bleed. We ended up in ICU and that is were he has been for the last three days. We were hoping for the best, but his condition as we all know has not made it easy. The swelling and blood in the brain has not gone away. He is paralized on his left side and has his vision. The doctors say there is not much more that we can do but to make him comfortable. They are giving him about a week. Our family is by his side and he is not alone. If you would like to send a card you can send it to Kootenai Medical Center Life Circle room 101. The hospital has a personal messaging center that you can send an email directly from your computer and it will be delivered directly to Josh. If you go to the Kootenal Hospital and go to “Topics of Interest”, then go to “Send Patient A Get Well E-Card.” Or you can send him a card snail mail:
4944 E. Hayden Lake Rd.
Hayden, Id 83835
I’ve been given permission to also give out an email where you can send support and love. Please take a moment to express your appreciation to all that Josh has done by sending him support and encouragement to liljoshwright@yahoo.com. His family is reading these letters and emails to him at his bedside.
Folks, this is a man that thinks about “his guys” before anything else. When he comes out of his sleep, the first thing and only thing he asks about are “his guys” or specific troops that he supports. PLEASE help me to ensure that he knows how much of a difference he made in this life.
Josh was a good man and it’s frankly unfair that he is being taken from us! Please pass this to whomever you can so we can show this everyday hero that his time on earth was worthily spent.
Thank you so much!
