This is interesting and I thought I’d pass it along to those in the New York area. The NY Council of the Navy League is hosting a full-day conference on security issues on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 in Times Square, NYC, at the Marriott Marquis. They have an amazing line-up of speakers and there are still some spots open.

Almost 10 years after the terror attacks of 9/11, thousands of political, military, law enforcement and first responders have spent countless hours to ensure that the “unthinkable” cannot happen again.

Yet despite bringing the country’s best minds to bear on this threat, our airports, seaports, mass transit, power infrastructure and public buildings remain under the specter of a well-contrived, bold, calculated terror attack.

The New York Council has assembled an extraordinary program of speakers, featuring Keynote Addresses by Congressman Joe Sestak and New York City Police Commissioner Ray Kelly and Luncheon Speech by Secretary of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano.

This premier event will be a vital update on the state of our preparedness, shortfalls, new technology and intelligence sharing, national and local response capabilities and the impact of the economic crisis on research, development and planning.

Gain insight into the lessons learned, strategies developed to minimize damage and ways we can all lay a part in minimizing the terror threat at home. Your attendance is important to us all.

  1. I’d go, but can’t see ponying up the $250 to go. Interesting organization, though.
    Thanks,
