You’ve got a bee in your bonnet on this one. Blaming Neely for the loss of your comrades? Bush caused the unecessay death of many, including loads of Brits by his ill thought out ‘war on terror’. The false claims of WMD, Guantanamo, the gung-ho US forces shoot then ask questions later approach (thank heavens for Wikileaks revealing what we all suspected anyhow), the 200k deaths of Iraqi civilians. What a disaster (and our British politians aren’t blameless either).

I am pretty sure that even in the US Bush is regarded as an idiot. Am I wrong?

Bnejamin, “the top” doesn’t dictate interrogations. As an interrogator, I can tell you that as a fact, not conjecture or assumption. Interrogation plans are generated by the individual interrogator and then approved at higher echelons. All interrogators are trained on proper, legal, and efficient interrogation tactics, so no interrogator can claim ignorance without culpability.

The orders for interrogation came from the top. If anyone is to be tried for war crimes that is where we need to begin; not at the bottom with pawns following orders.

I have to admit that the language and tone of your replies are disturbing; hard to take your points serious when part of your argument appears to take the form of bashing others. Man chooses neither time nor place for conscious awakening; you should appreciate the fact that Neely has come foward. Clearly, by coming foward, he has shed this “coward” label you have so graciously placed on him.
Instead of focusing on the acts of pions and pawns, we should focus on the bigger issue; abuse of prisoners, increased civilian casualties, and a Defense Dept. pushing this country further into debt.
I am not really sure the point you are trying to get across, other than blatant bashing of Neely, those who support him, or those with a different opinion than yours. Don’t worry, I fully appreciate your acts of expression (through this blog), I just wish there was more substance to validate your opinion.

Neely didn’t do his best. His best would have been to make a report about what was going on.

I do have a perspective, I’m not some robot. I don’t believe everything I’m told nor do I try to fit in the with the rest. You don’t do well in the military just fitting in. Just fitting in doesn’t get you promoted, doesn’t get you awards for your hard work, and doesn’t make for a proud career.

The dream world must be your own. There’s no shouting or stamping (sic) of feet here. I’m just pointing out that Neely is still a complete moron and really has no clue, much like you. The glasses through which you view the world are those of an infant. You really don’t get it.

If someone orders me to commit a crime (which has never happened), I will the thing a man with intestinal fortitude would do; report it. Funny enough, your idol Neely didn’t and is as much of a yellow coward today as he was those years back.

Sorry I’ve been so honest and destroyed your argument.

I believe Brandon Neely did his best. We need more honesty regarding this so called war on terror. This site is called A soldier’s Perspective. Soldier’s have no perspective, they are not there to think just believe what they are told and fit in with the rest. It is all just a dream world you live in, shouting, stamping your feet. Sorry but you are just human junk yard dogs. Someone tells you to commit crimes, you do it, just so you fit in with the rest. Sorry I have been so honest.
