I was there the day she had shown this image and honestly before talking to other people around me I was kind of shocked that she was laughing at it like it was a joke. Yet she gets very serious when she shows us stories from the internet of the Tuskegee Airmen in WWI. Both of these groups of soldiers were brave and I honor them, but if i showed a picture in her class of them with a large Mcdonald’s banner hanging behind their warplanes like an advertisement, satirizing the Tuskegee Airmen she would likely send me to the school’s office or give me an honor code violation.

The problem with people like Bob the Liberal is that he automatically assumed that the Democrats were responsible for getting the Civil Rights Act passed and that the Republicans were the obstructionists rather than the other way around. It’s ingrained in him that Republicans are evil and Democrats good. If he actually did some research he might find that he’s been supporting the wrong people his whole life.

No, just people who don’t mind public education brainwashing. I think the war in Iraq was just and right too, but I don’t want any teachers teaching giving their opinions about it one way or another. I want them to educate my kids. Present the facts and then let THEM decide, free of the educator’s influence.

It’s not the school’s job to tell my children who is right and who is wrong. That would be brainwashing. The school is supposed to teach them to look at the world from different points of view. I want them to learn to decide right and wrong for themselves. And I am all for the teacher saying that, in his opinion, the invasion of Iraq was just and right.

What does being from California have to do with anything? Ronald Reagan was from California. Do you have a problem with him?

If you are a teacher, then your students are lucky to be taught by you. It is nice to read comments from an educated, well-spoken and unbiased person who gives students the ability to come to their own opinions. After all, one of our most sacred principles is the right to express our thoughts freely.
