Hey I met a man who states His name is sgt william adams genthe, he is supoosed to be deployed in nigeria,,,,is this guy a scam????????? thank god for this website….His email adress is williamadams2000@yahoo.com,,,,
Ann McPeck
I met U.S. Army “explosives specialist” Sgt. William Genthe on Plenty of Fish. He told me he was a widower of 5 yrs(wife died in auto accident) and had no children. He said he lived in Jacksonville, FL and was deployed in Afghanistan due to come “home”(wherever that is) in April. He wanted to communicate through IM Messenger. His email is williamsadam32@yahoo.com. We had several online chats and then he started telling me he loved me and I was his soulmate and other things no man will say before meeting you in person. I Googled his name and found MULTIPLE sites saying this guy is a scammer. Ladies PLEASE DO NOT EVER SEND MONEY TO ANY MAN YOU DON’T KNOW! Hello?! Are you not smarter than this? Are you so desperate that you would send money to someone you haven’t even met?! Please go meet a man the old fashioned way….in person. Save all that money for dates!

I was chatting to a scammer who uses a soldiers id. His email addresses are: andre.powell22@yahoo.com and andre.powell22@live.com…The moment he mentioned money i thought, nah, wrong, so, i decided to get my own back…
I told him i was travelling to Iraq to see him, found a house to rent. The unfortunate part is that both decent men and women are been conned and coerced.
Antonia
CJ, I sent you an email requesting your help and you didn’t even reply. It’s great to have this blog and all. I think it’s just to vent. Do you really help anyone? Or are you just BSing?

My daughter has been chatting with a guy on Facebook who calls himself John Detroit. His email is cpt_detroit@yahoo.com. He said he’s a captain in the army, then later said it was the reserves, owns a tire shop in NY and owns his own home in NY. His mother is Mexican, lives in Mexico, but doesn’t speak Spanish. This guy speaks French fluently and his English is sort of fractured. I told her he didn’t sound legit. Come to find out, he has been chatting with another woman on Facebook from Canada and sending her the same romantic emails he sent my daughter. Posting this so if anyone comes across his name, you’ll beware. As of right now, he’s deleted his FB account. By the way, he was sending my daughter $7K through his bank and she was going to send it back by wire (money laundering??) so “he could get his flight back to the US from Iraq.” The bank told her it was a fraudulent account which is what tipped her off to this scam.

Hi everybody! is anybody who knows about a scammer called capt. Steve Miller? he pretends he is deployed in Afghanistan, Kabul and has a late wife and a son 17th years old who lives in US with his football coach. His email adress: tempmiller_infantry@yahoo.com; timewhite_infantry@hotmail.com. He contacted me on facebook and asked money for pfone connection and for vacational leave!
Sheila
How do I know the “soldier” that I have been emailing is for real and not a scammer? How can I verify his credentials? All of these stories that I have been reading sound exactly like everything he has been promising and telling me, also…..
Cyndi
I was talking to a soldier who had a picture posted on RSVP, after a week of intensive emails I asked him for proof of life, he stated that he does not have access to skype or a camera, I asked him also for his rank and address so i could send him a present. He wanted me to join up to a military communications site so after some research found some really helpful websites that told me about nigerian dating scams, he said he has heard of it but not familiar with it. Red flag came up very early in the emails when the text within his emails kept changing, plus his name was different from first email. The one positive thing that came out of it was that i have now relized that i can move on from having heart broken and that i am open to a new relationship, girls if it sounds too good to be true it most likely is. Best of luck.
Glynis

This is crazy!! Disrespectful to our American Soldiers. Also to mention gives our men and woman a bad reputation. I have contacted by a Andre Powell. Asking for money as well. He claims to be a Staff Sergeant In the US Army. Ranked E-6 and been in the Army for 12 or 14 years and has a degree in philosophy.
This is the e-mail he gave me to contact his commandment comd.fwilliams45@yahoo.com
“Good day,
Your request for the vocational leave of ssgt.Andre Powell has been received.
You will apply with the Transit section in Ramadi here by obtaining the TPF. Transit processing form which usually cost the refundable sum of 550 us Dollars. After remiting form charges,a Form will be sent to Ssgt Andre immediately indicating his status and steps to take..
He re enlisted in april 2009 to be in the army until 2014
Under the provision of the Army,he could get some time off on the R&R vocational leave only if requested
Get back to me as soon as possible for further processing.
Regards
LTC Williams Fish

After research it seemed all legit. But to pay for a Soldier to come home… this made no sense to be. The US Army is taken very well care of their true Soldiers. I feel he is pretending to be the man in these photos from the site army.mil/-new…ficer-corps/
This is where they wanted the money sent. The transit section will not deal directly with civilians, there are agents closer to whereever you are.
As it is the available section agents are in Asia,Africa, and some parts of Europe where the Us military troops are deployed.
Payments are made through the western union.
As it is,you are to make payment to the following agents address.
Name:Michelle Pevitt
Address:victoria, Portland
Country:Australia
Zip:3305
Get back to me immediately with the
leave for maximum of 60 days excluding traveling time.
Get back to me immediately.
And it will take 30days or less after all requirements are met to process leave.

I met Staff Sgt. Andre Powell one year ago on a dating site. We liked each other right away and began talking everyday, sometimes several times in one day. Sgt. Powell in stationed in Ramadi, Iraq. A few months after we met, he mentioned buying a phone through he military so we could talk on the phone when he is through working for the day. We research them and bought the cheapest on, actually I paid for the phone. We talked once and then he couldn’t get through on it or so he said. A few months later, he proposed and he said he wanted to retire from the Army, settle down and enjoy the rest of his life with a family of his own. First, he told me I needed to fill out a beneficiary form which cost me $400 plus wiring fees. There was a period of time in which the form was good through and the period expired, so we waited until I knew I would be getting a refund check that would cover his expenses. When that time came, I redid the form and paid the $400.00 again for them to process if again. Two days later I wired the balance due of $2340.00 to a Marie Holder in West Babylon, NY. She is listed in the white pages of the telephone book in West Babylon and is the only Marie Holder or Holder in the phone book. The number is (631)669-8236. Every time I sent money it went to someone different in all different areas of the world. I sent money to him 3 weeks ago through Marie Holder and he got it because he came online and told me he did. He also told me when he would be leaving, That day came and went and he did not show up. He came online and told me that the section was having some problems and now there were several other soldiers were going to be leaving as well, so they moved the flight to the end of the week to fly everyone out together. This was my last communication with Andre. It is like he disappeared into thin air. Actually, I know he really is just hiding from me. And, it is definitely men like this that make all men look bad. This is why I don’t date. Jerks like this that tell you exactly what you want to hear and then convince you to hand over your money, then getting them to talk to you id like pulling teeth. This has got to stop!! I used to hold the Army in highest regards, but now I think someone must not be paying attention if he is getting away with this repeatedly.

He is back. He is now going by the name of Richard Powell. Still using the same scam. I am so sorry he stole your money. I am chatting with him now, but would love to help you nail him for this. Feel free to email me at diane.corrick@yahoo.com. Maybe we can figure something out.
JJ
Hey,
Just wanted to add another name here. Beware of someone calling themselves James Louk or JamesLouk50@yahoo.com
Kathie
James Louk winked at me on match.com. Talked a good talk…then asked me for t-shirts, a game controller and then a phone. His story is that he is getting out of the military in a few months…wants the phone to contact me and also his son in London. I sent him nothing, but the next girl may not be so fortunate. I wish there was a way to tell the world about him.
Heather
Same goes here – even uses the same story – son in London etc….. He asked for shirts, underwear and a phone….. Makes me SICK that he uses our soldiers in his scam!! He even showed me a quick web cam on yahoo messaging! Don’t know how one could do that – it’s beyond my computer skills but I did NOT fall for his requests….
He is definitely smooth…..

I think I am being scammed – a captian in the army named David McNamara (davidmc2050@yahoo.com). Have any of you heard of him?
Janice Mays
Yes I have heard of David Mcnamara. If I’d have known about this sight I wouldn’t be in the trouble I am in.
He’s bad news and I’ll do anything to catch him. He is the worst kind of predator and has scammed me out
of $2800.00. All I can say is I won’t be so taken in as easily again. It really makes you wonder how you’ll
ever trust anyone again. I am so sorry ladies if you have dealt with him. He’s really good at what he does so
watch it. Jancie

Hi CJ
I have been scammed by a guy who calls himself Derrick Mills email add:millsey1@live.com.
Also a Marvin Newkriks email add:marvinnewkriks@hotmail.com is the guy who was picking up the money that was requested of me. The total amount I was scammed for is AUD $2000.
I really do appreciate all the work you do in researching these scumbags.I honour the men in the armed forces for the terrific job they do so we can have a better quallity of life for ourselves and our descendents. That is why I fell for this scam so readily and without looking into it first. I will be reporting this to the RSVP site from which I had the misfortune to have come across it.Once again keep up the good work.
Brande L Beeler
I, Brande Beeler, am Sgt. Andre Powell’s fiance and posted a mock post weeks ago for investigative purposes. I had the Criminal Investigation Department of the US Army look into every nook and cranny to clear Andre’s name. He is no scammer. You are talking to someone using his email account and his name. Please stop tainting the real person. Don’t take my word for it; check it out for yourself.
Brande L Beeler
I take back my last comment.. Sgt. Andre Powell is indeed a scammer and a damn good one. I had someone looking into him and even they came up empty. I gave him the benefit of the doubt when the investigation came up empty. He got me for $3,550.00. This was to fly him home and he never showed up when the day finally came. I have never felt like more of a fool than I do now. I hope this saves someone else from falling for his smooth lines and charm. Nobody deserves this.
Diane
I am so sorry. He is now also going by the name Richard Powell. We are chatting now and would love to be able to do something to stop him. I would love to help
Nuur
I was added by a guy named Elvis Mahir on FB. He told me he was ex British Military and now managing water treatment company as project manager in London. He is divorced abt a year and has 13 years old son. His stories are pretty convincing. He said his wife cheated on him (sleeping with his friend) hahaha. He lived on his own now, his father a deceased and mother stay different house looked after by a maid abt 40minutes drives. He is the only son in the family. He told me he is Muslim by birth, got the lineage from his grandmother who is from Middle East
I never thought it was a scam as he speak and write good English. He called from UK’s numbers 447031831996 & 447572526909 and Singapore number 6585507055. Only after I was scam I discovered those are fakes UK’s numbers. They are using certain technique to disguise their call as if they are really calling from the countries they claimed to be. During our chat periods he never lead me to any suspicion except for very few. He never check on my financial status nor he had the interest talking about financial matters. On 2nd Jan 2012 he said he need to travel to Singapore to purchase machinery for his Cardiff project which should be completed in February as agreed in the contract. He arrived Singapore on 3rd evening and called me using Singapore number LOLz. His drama began on 4th afternoon. He said his American Express got blocked and will take 2 working days time to clear. He seek financial assistance of USD5k. That day I remitted RM6K (USD2K) to the shipping agent so called broker in Malaysia. As the amount was not sufficient he asked me to help because the ship will leave by that day around 5 -6PM Singapore time. He sounded very desperate. To convince me with his drama, he asked me to talk to the Asst. Manager of the shipping company by the name of Mr. Taufik from Saudi Arabia. That man insisted he can only assisted USD1k. After few hours of trying to seek financial help from me, he called me back saying the Arab man agreed to help him another USD1k and that is final. So he need another USD1K (RM3,100.00) which I remitted late afternoon that day. Friday 6th Jan, he is stuck with his American Express in Spore. By then I realized he was trying to fraud me. That evening onward, I start searching intensively on the internet. The shipping company he gave me does not exist. The female Malaysian HP number he gave me never answer my call. I search his UK number via google engine and noticed it is reported number. I checked with the hotel he stayed in Singapore and no such guess. Only then I discovered the scam link on the internet, there are many similar stories to what I experienced. These Nigerian are using photo’s of innocent people to lure us. I believed they are using the same pictures with different names. I’ve learnt my lesson not to assist anyone you never met in person. We don’t always get the good return.

Can anyone help me find anything out about a Rubin Coaster? Says he is in US army. CJ if you can email me I will give you more info on what I have. Want to make sure I am correct about him before I contact the right department. Thank you.
Brande L Beeler
I have posted three times regarding Sgt. Andre Powell. One was a mock post for the Criminal Investigative Department within the US Army. This post was intentionally posted to make him look like a scammer to get a lead as to who is behind all this garbage. I then posted a post taking all that back because he was cleared and several weeks later they had me do this again to be sure. Again, no response. To make a long story short, Sgt. Andre Powell is a good man and all allegations can not be proven. As his fiance, I suggest you shut your trap and leave him alone. Post things you can prove and back up.
CJ
Brande, if you want to be scammed, by all means keep talking to this guy. You deserve to be scammed and please don’t come crying back here if you don’t take my advice that you’re out of money. If your SGT Andre Powell is so real, why can’t I find him in the Army system? How do you know he was cleared?
Now, I suggest you shut your trap and start opening your pocket book. You may want to get a second job so you can afford all the money you’re going to lose. Again, don’t come crying to me because the fake SGT Andre Powell stole your heart and money. You’re in love with a ghost – a man that doesn’t exist. You’re “engaged” but where is your ring? Is he too cheap or, let me guess, doesn’t have access to his money from wherever he says he is.
Diane
I would love to compare chats with you. I bet he is saying the exact same things to me. This is the way to prove that he is who he says he is and not saying the same things to everyone he talks to. Please email me at diane.corrick@yahoo.com so we can compare notes. He has also told me that he would love to take leave to come and be with me. I would need to help him with his expenses because he can’t access his money in Texas until he is back in the states. He needs $2500 for his ticket and $1500 for medical evaluation before he leave. Please contact me.
