Oakley collage Since the 1980s, Oakley has been providing U.S. troops with military gear and boots. Best known for its popular eyewear, it has spent millions on developing products for those in the armed forces. This partnership was formed to develop new technologies that improve the safety and performance of soldiers. Over time, Oakley's military line has transformed from a few models to a highly specialized division within the company. At its research facility in California, the company constantly works on new innovations. Some items are not available in retail stores, but luckily a number of military items can be purchased through public outlets.

    • 4 out of 5 This backpack is by far the most cool and practical backpack out there. It is very durable with a lot of room for clothes and computer or ipod stuff. It's Oakley, you can't go wrong.

    • 5 out of 5 Overall, this is a great product. Even when loaded down with books and a laptop, it rests comfortably against your back and doesn't put much strain on your shoulders. The inside has proven to be durable so far. I am in and out of it at least 5 times a day and so far there are no visible signs of wear. The side pockets are generously sized and can accommodate nearly anything you would aim to put in them. The padding on the laptop section seems to provide adequate protection during transport. I travel frequently, which is why I opted for this style of backpack, and didn't want to lug around 2 separate bags when 1 is all that I really needed. With the Icon Pack, I can store my laptop, all of its components, books for school, chargers for random electronics, and pretty much anything else I would need for a short trip to wherever. Something I was very impressed with was the shoulder straps. They are wide enough to keep pressure off of your collar bone, but small enough to allow free movement of the arms and neck. They curve right at the mid-chest region, where the cross strap is, and then fall off to the sides at just the right place. Realistically, the only complaint I can put forward about this bag is the mesh used in some of the more frequented areas. I have already snagged it once and although there was no damage, I think this will be the first part of the bag that will concede to the test of time. Overall this is a great product. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a versatile and durable laptop backpack. As a student with a full time job, this meets all of my needs and some that I didn't even know I had.

    • 4 out of 5 Like the first Icon pack, this bag is great for everyday use. Its is pretty big and can fit a ton of stuff. There are a ton of pockets on here which makes it pretty versatile. I use it for weekend trips. It can carry small items like my ipod. The big pocket I use for my clothes and then I can fit my portable DVD player in here too. Very nice bag which offers a lot of options.

    • 5 out of 5 Well built backpack, great materials, and rugged design. Has lots of room for books (and I have some rather large school books), laptop, and all of your other accessories. One of the largest backpacks that I could find that is not a hiking or camping backpack

    • 4 out of 5 Good bag, too many straps - There are no two ways about it, the bag is cool. However, I don't think it s going to age well like a Northface. I just bought it for a gear bag in Afgahnistan and not so sure its good looks or the velcro are going to last. Time will tell.

    • 4 out of 5 PROS: Great backpack in terms on amount of storage. Big and spacious, the mesh helps cool out or air out your wet stuff, It even has drain holes on the bottom to drain out the water. Laptop compartment can be use as additional storage and the cool thing is it has the side zipper so if you are holding other items, there's an easy access without unbuckling all the straps. Spacious side pockets as you can put many stuff in there like cables or a lot of small items. Center pocket which has the velcro tear-out compartment reveals compression molded pockets, easy to put small stuff like phone or pda etc, and even has some for pens. CONS: The only problem i had with this bag is the fact that the main pocket has a mesh lining. I can see the reason that they did that to air out stuff (assuming you put wet stuff) but since the velcro flap covers that area, wouldn't it be wise to put Oakley lining in there instead? I also noticed that the mesh lining breaks easily if it comes into contact with sharp or should i say moderately sharp items. I noticed i had 3 -4 mesh areas that are preening out. the materials they used for the mesh does not seem like its a good quality if a pen can pierce through it and cause a breakage.

    • 5 out of 5 If you are looking for a great all purpose durable backpack - you can't do much better than the Oakley Icon 2.0. This bag can take a beating and keep on ticking. This backpack has a main chamber with several sub-chambers under the main flap. It also has a side zipper accessible compartment that rests against the wearer's back (this is meant to hold a laptop, but can be used for lots of things). The backpack also has two handy side compartments, plus a mesh net on the back which is perfect for carrying a book, cell phone, water bottle - lots of things. I take this backpack everywhere - it is a very convenient size - can carry very little or can be stuffed full. The straps never seem to fray even under a lot of weight.
